I connected to FORSCAN and did the update to APIM I wanted to do and the spreadsheet says to "reset APIM" when done. So, while still connected, I selected the wrench icon, selected the "reset APIM" choice and hit the play button at the bottom...and I see a running service procedure and a 0%, but nothing else seems to happen. What am I missing on doing?

I've also seen people mention pressing "power" and then "forward". What is this referring to? Power, as in turning the truck to accessory mode? And what does "forward" refer to? Anyway, the item I changed (removing the "full view not available" box in the rear camera mode) is apparently competed as I no longer see the black box with message. So, do I still need to do an APIM reset? If not, would still like to know how to do it for future needs.

Not sure why FORScan isn't doing the reset, but holding radio power button and the forward seek button together while the truck is running or in accessory mode will reset the APIM. Turn on the truck, and hold down both buttons until the screen reboots.

The only time I've had FORScan refuse to run a procedure or seem to "freeze" is when I've forgotten to click "stop" on the previous procedure I was doing. Going back into that procedure (usually a configuration procedure) and clicking "stop" has always allowed me to carry on with something else.

Thank you for this explanation

Thanks. I will go back and see if this might be the case. I do not recall hitting the stop button after running the change procedure.

What does reseting the APIM do? If doing the change above "remove full view” and you dont reset the APIM what will happen?

The changes you made may not take right away if you don't reboot it.

It's kinda like older Windows computers when you would install a new program (including shared libraries) but not reboot it.

RAM = random access memory. Think of it as your desk where you lay out files from your file cabinet to work on.

HDD = hard disk drive. Think of this as your file cabinet where you keep files stored away, and where you get the files from that you want to lay out on your desk to work on.

If you didn't reboot the computer, the older libraries would remain resident in RAM (on your desk) while the new libraries would only be on your HDD (filed away but not on your desk).

Rebooting clears RAM (clears your desk) and loads the new libraries there from your HDD. Now the computer can use the new libraries.

Rebooting the APIM does the same thing relative to the firmware (software) updates you uploaded to the module.
