Need help with reverse light wiring

Looking to install some additional reverse light to my truck.

2022 f150 platinum pb with on board scales.

I first tried diode dynamics hitch light, however the wiring makes the truck think a trailer is connected so that’s a no go.

I then ordered a kit from “Specialty Performance Vehicles” this kit uses a harness from your tail lights.

Now the harness did not fit my tail light, locating pins were in slightly different locations. Spoke with John at SPV he sent me test harness to verify reverse and parking light wire locations. Found the parking light circuit but I can not figure out which wire is for the reverse circuit.

TLDR: Does anyone know what color wire or pin location is used for the tail light reverse lights?

There is a lot going on in those taillights. I believe it is the gray wire with brown stripe. Location Pin 4. Give that a try.

Pin 4 has 12 volts at all times on my truck.

Possibly Pin 8 is the signal? Yellow/Violet LIN 14 on the diagram. Kinda makes me think there is a module within the taillight and the BCM just sends a signal to trigger ground to complete the circuit.

Nope, reverse trigger is canbus. Ended up pulling from 7 pin trailer harness.

I had the exact same issue with my harness, but luckily I had the halegon lights so it was very easy to figure out the problem. SPV was very easy to work with, great customer service! I’m pretty sure they just sent me out one with all the pins and it worked perfect.

It was mentioned earlier that using the trailer harness triggers the truck to think you are towing and disabled sensors etc.

If only using pin 7 for reverse lights is this still an issue and is there any other way around this?

I have no issues with the truck thinking I’m towing or disabled sensors.

Have spoken with the owner multi-able times when first troubleshooting for the harness, also they just received handled a warrant claim on the diode dynamics lights that completely fell apart.

I recommend spending a bit more and getting the Baja ones.

What trim is your truck, mine is a Platinum?

Also does your rear zone lighting activate the lights as well as putting in reverse?

I think I have figured out what I need to do but maybe you or others can confirm.

If I buy just the wire harness:

Then I should be able to install any LED lights I want and they will come on when in reverse and not have any error codes or think there is a trailer connected. I can cut the ends off and crimp any light wires to this specific cable.

I am planning on getting cheap Harbor Freight LED https://www.harborfreight.com/6-in-led-floodlight-57190.html

A bonus would be if the Zone lighting also triggers these lights.
