My AA Coolwalk impressions

I received the new Coolwalk UI Feb 7. In reality though, I've had "coolwalk" since the day I received my truck on Nov 20 the previous year. In fact, all F150s with the 12" screen and SYNC4 have had "coolwalk" from day one.

My truck is up to date, so with Coolwalk I now have full screen AA map which I didn't have before. I use satellite view, so while this does look nice stretched across the screen, it brings nothing to the party that the 2/3 screen hasn't already brought. The map is still the same size, only with greater peripheral vision. I don't think I'll use the full screen map because I like having the audio source card visible.

Since I have satellite radio I prefer using the truck's satellite tuner over the SXM app through AA. Because of this preference I have no real need for Coolwalk's own card feature. With a Ford card visible I can't use full screen AA so I'm back to the way my truck was when I took delivery. If my only access to satellite radio was through the SXM app, then Coolwalk would be the bees knees with its card feature.

The Coolwalk aesthetics is much improved. No complaints at all. I like the way it looks. My impressions are based upon my individual setup. Change one of my parameters and my view of Coolwalk will change.

I have yet to try Coolwalk in my son's Maverick. I think I'll really like it in all its splendor in the Maverick. It doesn't have satellite service so using the SXM app and the card view in Coolwalk will be welcomed. Since the screen is only 8 inches, I'll like having the full screen map. Bigger isn't always better and smaller is sometimes too small.

Google did a good job with Coolwalk. I don't know what it takes to get or make an app AA compatible. I wish Music Choice was AA compatible. I can play it through my phone and the Bluetooth connection, but I can't play it through AA.

How do you get maps to go full screen? I've recently gotten the AA cards showing up in place of the ford ones, but I don't see a button to fullscreen google maps

First, you need the Ford Power Up that gives you AA full screen. Got it? Make AA full screen. Now you just press the map button and the map will scooch over taking up the entire screen. There's another button that toggles between card view and your app drawer.

Thanks... I'll try again later. I did get that last icon once, but my maps weren't full screen. Sounds like I just need the hit the maps button one more time

You'll be able to tell because the layout for AA is different. You'll get hot buttons on the side (like 1st picture) and you'll get cards (also like 1st picture). But they won't expand unless you've got the Ford update. So, to answer your question, different layout.

I'm bummed that Waze maps don't go full screen like google maps. But, for me, I also use the configuration with AA on the left (Waze) with the Ford sync card on the right (SXM).

This is so incorrect I can't even.

Coolwalk is a Google Server side update that most certainly has not been out since November, unless you were part of the AA Beta program. Additionally, SYNC4 has nothing to do with Coolwalk so stating that all F150's have it is simply wrong.

With SYNC4, you need power up update 3.5.3 which enables SYNC4's handling of AA to allow fullscreen AA, Coolwalk or not. The aesthetic change that comes with the Google Coolwalk update is handled on Googles side and to this day still has not been pushed out to many users.

I received my truck on October 22 of 2022, it certainly did not have the coolwalk redesign then, and I still don't have it now. I recently received the 3.5.3 update which allows me to make AA full screen, but it does not come with the Coolwalk aesthetic, nor can I make maps full screen since I don't have coolwalk.

It's your own fault you is feel dumb.

I don't want to get in between this e-fight, but I think Big Cam's point is that a lot of people aren't familiar with this upgrade and they're looking for information on it. Your post would probably come up in a search and it's not accurate. There was confusion about this post, literally, 5 post in. And the craziest part is there was pictures 2 post above it.

All that said, I think the community appreciates your post, but to those not familiar, and looking for info, this can be extremely confusing, as it's not as factually accurate as it could be.
