Hey all,
I've seen related threads that have seemed to lead to useful information so I thought I'd give this a shot as well.
Been fighting multiple issues that appear at once relating to the ABS, powertrain, and pre-collision systems. Dealer says it throws about 50 module codes when it happens, meaning the CAN is shutting down most likely. This all started about the beginning of August and I have been to 2 different dealerships 7 times combined since with no resolution. When driving, the pickup will randomly flip out and throw precollision unavailable, service advancetrac, hill start unavailable, blind spot monitioring unavailable, drive mode not available, etc. Sometimes they clear themselves, sometimes they require disconnecting the battery or letting the pickup sit for an extended amount of time. So far the dealer has cleared codes and preformed the battery reset, replaced the front camera module, checked all module connections and applied dielectric grease, replaced the ABS module, and replaced the battery. I have noticed since the battery replacement the pickup was happier, longer. The issue went from happening every couple days to once every couple weeks, ~1000 miles. However, the battery has been replaced for 4 weeks now and the issue is showing itself more frequently as of late and it has happened a couple times in the last few days, ~200-300 miles. The main alerts I see as of late are precollision related and service advancetrac and seems to happen within minutes of starting the vehicle to begin a new trip, not the first trip of the day.
The dealer wants me to take it to them when I have more time so they can perform more tests but they have straight-up told me they are at a loss and Ford hasn't provided much guidance either. I have been monitoring module voltage while driving, hoping to see something happen there to make sense of why a new battery has seemed to help a little. In doing that I have learned a lot of how the system wants to charge based on logic. The issue has happened 2 times since I started monitoring it and both times as soon as the voltage comes up the codes clear and the pickup runs normally again. However, the voltage seems to stay above 12.3v when running so not sure if that is low enough to cause what I'm seeing or not.
I will attach codes I have pulled using my Blue Driver. Could my alternator be at fault or is there something else I should be checking to get to a fix? I am fairly electrical savvy as I work on DC electronics and CAN based systems in agricultural machines. Any help would be greatly appreciated!
