Moldy a/c smell

Did you ever get it resolved? I’m having the same issue. Changed the cabin air filter, sprayed Lysol, nothing has helped yet.

No I’m in the north so weather got cooler and smell went away. Expect it to be back when it gets hot next summer and I’m just going to take it to the dealer. I’ve tried all recommendations here and checked for pano roof leak and moisture under passenger seat with no luck.

What was the timeframe between your "Build date" & "Delivery date"?

Was it parked, waiting chips?

Mine was built in early 21 so time between built and delivered date was maybe like 2 weeks. No chip holds.

Been having this issue since last year and it’s starting to get bad again the Lysol truck isn’t helping the only thing the dealership did a while back was a deodorizer and that help for a week.

Having the same issue, haven't used AC all winter, but the truck smells bad when I get in it. Had the carpets clean and detailed, no help. 2022 F150 limited.

So you’re not going to help myself which I own a 2021 lariat and the smell is awful. I owned a 2012 and never had a issue

I bought an ionizor and changed the cabin air filter, that the dealer did not check. Ran ionizor with climate system off, then with heat on, again with AC on, both with recycled air and outside air.

Happy to report, smell is gone.

How long did you run it for in each state?

About 20 minutes in each climate state.

A bit longer on the initial clean with the truck turned off.

What were your truck's symptoms – constant smell, or just at the start of an A/C cold cycle?

Constant smell, I could never figure out the source. I thought it was moisture under the Weathertech Mats, but that did not seem to be the issue. Hope it stays away now.

Ok, thanks. I think I might have a different issue – smell only comes at the start of a cold A/C cycle on a hot day.

I don’t use - recirculate.

Like, you don't manually turn it on? Or you turn it off when the truck turns it on? Im forgetting exactly which way it goes (No A/C here since September and still off), but if you change what it's doing with recirculate, it will get a musty smell. Have you tired just letting it do it's thing?
