I searched this forum and didn’t anything quickly on this topic so I’ll ask here and apologize in advance for mixing in a few other issues. If there are pointers to other threads please let me know and I’ll follow up there but I’ve had a number of issues with my 2021 F150 Platinum Super Crew. It’s the hybrid power boost model; purchased new. I take care of the truck but it has some issues that are annoying:
1) mirror glitch - periodically and not predictably when I get in and start the vehicle the passenger side mirror starts to move on its own snapping a few centimeters back and forth making a clunking sound like it’s trying and failing to adjust itself. No idea why it does this. It last about 10 seconds clunking back and forth. I’ve tried to catch it on video to show someone but by the time I get the phone ready it stops. Something is wrong with it. Truck has 30k miles on it.
2) static from the headrest speakers. I’ve posted Or replied to posts on this topic before. My Bay Area dealership did something inside the seat that made the static noises stop but it still intermittently will have some static from the headrest speakers that is annoying but not reproducible.. when it first happens I could reproduce it by pushing on the seat back but now it happens randomly and faintly and it’s really annoying.
3. the fuel door release mechanism just fell out yesterday, it’s a plastic stalk that is spring loaded with a rubber jacket inside the fuel door. It fell out and I put it back together but it makes a weird noise now so I’ll need to take that in too when I go for service next week.
4. there is a rattle someplace in the dash up high maybe behind the navigation/display console it might be some plastic trim around the console but I had similar issues with my 2017 raptor and it’s hugely annoying. I press on the dash in different places trying to get it to stop but only occasionally have success. Another hard to reproduce issue that is a quality problem. Same issue with my raptor not sure where the noise is coming from.
5. the rear passenger door sensor frequently but intermittently indicates the door is ajar when it isn’t. No amount of door slamming will make this go away. Then randomly it might turn itself off only to re-appear later. It’s usually the one rear passenger door but sometimes it has been other doors. The car is clean and the doors are shut but these sensors fail or give false negative readings. It’s really annoying because it sets alarms off inside and when you try to lock the car and walk away it causes the running boards not to retract and the lights to remain on. In Tahoe snow last month it did this for 3 days and snow builds up on the automated running board and then eventually when they do try to retract they Jane and the snow/grit will scratch your trucks finish as the running boards retract and push accumulated ice and gravel against the paint finish.. all caused by this faulty sensor.
all vehicles have issues but what annoys me most about this one is the large number of intermittent/hard to reproduce issues that require a lot of time to sort out. Seems to me like something is not right or reliable with the sensors/wiring on this vehicle.s
