Mid Cycle Refresh? What's next? Timeline

Could anyone share insights on the typical timeline for the next exterior update? I understand that the 2024 model year has given us an exterior redesign - and some notable improvements on the interior as well. Additionally, what's the expected timeline for a more drastic interior overhaul?

Now this is a complete shot in the dark, but as long as it meets sales expectations I’d figure about 3 years on the current body style. They’ve been using the same basic platform since 2015 so if I was a betting man I’d wager that the next generation will be pretty much completely new. But this is all just an educated guess with no evidence

Fords usual timeline is a 6 model year run per generation, we are on year 4 of 6 which would leave 2 model years left for the 14th gen. Expect drivetrain (10R80) to remain the same and minor interior updates. The way retail orders are headed I would not be shocked to see the 2.7 Eco dropped from the lineup, it seems new trends are showing a sharp rise in PowerBoost sales and the V-8 is actually gaining some market share. Next gen lineup might look like 5.0 standard, 3.5 PowerBoost optional, 3.5 PHEV optional. In a crazy world it might even be 5.0 hybrid (PowerBoost style non PHEV, likely just called “5.0L PFDI Hybrid), 3.5 PowerBoost, 3.5 PHEV. I just don’t see the 2.7 staying with it now being relegated to non tow pack XL and XLT and hybrid plans for the 5.0 surfacing for a 2025 and beyond mustang. The 5.0 will be staying if the Mustang is staying because they need to have production at a certain level to justify the facility and product. We shall see.

Aluminum body will stay, people have liked the no rust and better efficiency. We could use a new front differential, hopefully something Ford is looking into. I also think Ford could improve the rear suspension further, maybe not coils but I’d like to see more than one leaf next gen. Maybe get all LED across the board standard, standard blue cruise/safety tech. Sync 5 or “phoenix” across the board likely on a 15” screen vertically placed.

The 2024 made the Powerboost a basically no cost option over the 3.5. It's far more likely the 3.5 gets dropped and only the 3.5 PB, 5.0 and 2.7 is offered. I just don't think the 2.7 will go away, it's their volume seller.

The 2.7 isn't going anywhere. It's a ground up built for engine that fits the truck better than most want to admit. If anything else, it'll be the best base engine on the market. If anything a hybrid version of it would be awesome.

I'd imagine some redesign but they are in a tough spot. Not sure how much more design they can do before over doing it to be counter productive.

I'm curious if they'll bring the new Digital Experience infotainment system to replace Sync 4 before the major refresh in (estimated) 2027?
