I want to say thank you to all those that responded to this thread. After inquiring about the diminished value and seeing what kind of deal they could make on a new vehicle purchase, I ended up going that route. However, I did not buy from the dealership that did the damage. I reached out to my sales manager at the dealership I originally bought my truck from (to see how fair the deal was) and upon hearing about the issue they offered to match the deal. All said and done, they ended up beating it by a couple thousand. I'm now in a 2022 XLT 302A with a 3.5L, max trailer tow, and 360 cameras. Despite the nearly $5k increase in base price and $2k extra in options than my truck, I was out the door for ~$800 more than my original truck. Interest rates have shifted a bit, but despite that I feel it was a solid move. Also, when I got the truck back I noticed the top fender bolt (under the trim that at the bottom of the windshield) was still loose and that just left me with an uneasy feeling about the work they did. Overall, I'm happy with how things turned out and I really appreciate the support and guidance provided by this thread!
Congratulations! And, best wishes with the new truck.

How do these "techniques" get handed down - they aren't I guess - makes me sad.

As some one said earlier, the skills are getting lost these days. You can apply that to so many trades today.
I know this is way off topic.
I have been in construction for almost 30 years and a General Contractor for about 13 years at this point.
It isn't that skills aren't being handed down as much as its people just don't care about pride in a job done well and properly. All they want is to do is exert as little effort (both physical and mental) and get a paycheck and don't seem to care if they get called on it.
I learned carpentry from a master carpenter and he was old school about craftsmanship. These days so many people turn out total crap and charge a premium for it.
People seem to be more interested in money than pride...they just don't care that they are doing crap work.

Rant off.

...and after installing my level kit, I did just that when I took my truck to have it aligned. When I offered my 250 lbs. torque wrench instead of "we tighten the LCA nuts until we can't." They looked at me like I had 3 heads :) The shop manager (Goodyear) was cool though and they did tighten the nuts properly (no "arm strong" or zip zip guns).

To the OP, I would have done the same thing. It will forever be right there in your head every time you start your truck.
I took my wife's van to Budget Tire for new shoes. I was bored so I sat at the shop window. I was pleasantly surprised to see that they had one guy that only had one job - torque wrench on every lug nut on every vehicle. Raised my opinion of the shop by several points!

...and you'll likely go back there... that's how it works :)

I don't mean to keep this going..... but I'm charged up I guess.... instead of doing a great job the first time, let's do a 1/2 a$$ job and come back 'n' times until the customer gives up - sad.

Businesses for the most part do not want to spend the money to train people and being anti-union makes it worse as the unions do most of the apprenticeship training in the USA. When the old guys are cut loose to save on medical insurance and payroll there is no one left to mentor the new hires.
Very different in Germany but they have laws (codetermination) that force companies to have many employees on the boards and so businesses are operated for the long run and not like the U.S. were the CEO's only care about next quarter's bonus.

I went to work for a Fortune 100 company in 2005 and the HR person started to talk about the wonderful pension plan and I laughed out loud. I knew that I had zero chance of ever collecting a dime from their pension. In the USA it is perfectly legal for the managers to loot the workers' pension fund and transfer the money into the company's bank account and distribute it as dividends to shareholders or as bonus to upper management (Pacific Lumber is a case study on how to do this).

Since 1980 the sytem has been purposely rigged to take from the poor and give to the rich. It is why only in America so we have tens of thousands of families living in tents.

With my first 1-ton truck the owner manual recommended to check the wheel nuts, and re-torque them if needed, every 3,000 miles. I did this as I did not want to lose a wheel. My new F-150 is a very different vehicle but I still checked the wheel nuts among other things when I got the truck to my house. Good ideal to check all fluid levels as they are often added by the dealer prep person and often they miss things. My last truck was very low on ATF and when I called the service department they said the guy often missed this.

Speaking of taking pride in your work, I was a union carpenter for 40 years. Worked over half of my career doing high end trim, doors and hardware on commercial buildings.

Got a call a while back from a lady that had a bathroom door that wouldn't close because the hinges needed shimmed to straighten it up so it would function properly.

I combined a trip to the lumber yard that is 11 miles from my house to fix the ladies problem. Upon arrival I could tell the lady didn't have any money. Went inside looked at the problem, shimmed the door as needed. She ask me how much she owed me. I replied oh, just make it $20.00. (Was there about 20 minutes). She went stark raving nuts saying that she wouldn't pay ANYONE $20.00 for 20 minutes work !!!!

SO, after she threw her fit, I ask her if she was going to pay me or what?! She said %$#@ NO. To which I pulled my shims out of the door, putting it back in the same position it was in when I got there.

Fast forward 2 months later, she called back. Said she had the $20.00 to fix the door. I hope she found someone to do it, 'cause I didn't. I personally think that NO CONTRACTOR would show up for that small of a job.

If she'd of told me that money was tight, (which I thought it probably was), I'd of probably fixed it for nothing. BUT her cussing me just ruffled my feathers !!!!!!!
