Hey there,

I thought it would be nice to take the wifey on a little trip with all the comforts as well as our favorite show on the go without downloading it to an iPad or so just cause it would be cool to use the ford screen. (Cause why not)
Found a device called magic box. Does anyone have any input? Pros, cons, anyone who has used it?

No problem at all, just trying to point you in the right direction.

In short, most of the boxes are buggy and running on older android versions. Some apps work on it and some don’t. Sometimes people can get it to go full screen and sometimes they can’t.

Retired and not looking. I am driving the wife crazy.
If you decide to go ahead with it, I hope wifey is OK when you wreck it. Hopefully it will be low speed so the airbags do not deploy and no one is hurt.

There’s always one. My use case is sitting in a parking lot during my kids practices and I have still had people insist it wouldn’t be safe

Mfy wifey is accusing me of exactly that on about everything I ask.

I had a 2010 Cadilllac CTS V. I could defeat the screen and download movies to watch while on the road. Never did. Never tried. But it was considered.

It’s obviously meant for when we aren’t driving…
Didn’t think I had to mention that.

Bought the MagicBox plugged it in and used it once. Hated it.

Bought the Naviks unit and I like that much better. If you capable of installing it (pretty easy) and patient with it, totally worth it. I added a Roku in order to stream services. Turn the hotspot on my phone, and good to go. Have also plugged my Nintendo in and played video games while son had hockey practice.

Carlinkit TBox seems to be the best of the bunch as it actually maintains fullscreens which is the real problem for all the "AI" boxes. That being said, they all have their issues at times. Far from perfect.

I have a Magic Box. Works perfectly with Netflix and YouTube TV. Even works full screen. Theater sound during movies. Set it up once, and never set it up again. Runs right off the hotspot on your phone.

Bought it for road trips and when I HAVE to be in the car during football, golf majors, and March Madness.

Not sure what there is to hate. Full screen is a breeze. Just need your CarPlay expanded to full screen before you connect the Magic Box.

Be easier to get a small 10" tablet, subscribe to ATT Wi-Fi in your truck for a month and then watch Netflix or anything else on the tablet. I do that for the month of October each year when I go hunting. One month of unlimited Wi-Fi data runs $25. When I go back to my truck after the morning hunt, I can watch Netflix or link to my Dish Anywhere account and watch recordings from my DVR at home or any other live channel off my DVR.
