Hi All,

I’m looking to lower the rear end of a 2022 F-150 Limited so that it’s level with the front. I’m vertically challenged and need the tailgate a bit lower to get gear on and off, and as an added benefit I think the truck will look better as a result.

Is there a best way to do this without sacrificing ride quality, or even improving it? I read on older trucks people removed a block, but I’m unsure if the same applies to my 2022.

Maxtrac makes a 2" and 3" drop shackle.

As Rinn69 said, the 4x4 models come with a 1.25" lift block, it can be removed without any issues with pinion angles (based on my research). It will give you exactly that, a 1.25" drop. You'll still be left with a rake and likely not making it any easier to use the bed. But it could be a "free" mod if you have the ability and a little time.

If you want to put in a little more effort (and money), you can get the Ford Performance Lowering Kit (Part # M-3000-H4B) to get 2.5" in the rear and 1.5" in the front. The rear drop is based on removing the blocks and installing similar drop shackles mentioned above. The front replaces the coil springs with new Ford blue lowering springs. Additionally, the kit comes complete with that new u-bolts and shims to adjust the pinion angle.

I just had it done and it looks great, rides as good, if not better than stock, and I can get in and out of the bed with ease. I had it installed at a local dealer which means it maintains my factory warranty, no issues with that down the road.

Looks great! Can you advise what the rough budget was for this?

The kit is $600 and I had mine installed at a local dealer. They charged me $700 which included a front end alignment. The only thing I would do differently is buy a caster/camber kit and have it installed at the same time. They told me the alignment is close, but not exactly the same as stock.

Link to alignment kit-- https://www.steeda.com/spc-performa...nt-cambercaster-kit-f-150raptor-09-14_p_13998
I'll echo what was said here. The dealer actually recommended mid install that I need to pick up the SPC Camber/caster kit ($90 x 2, one for each side). They did what they could at the time while the parts shipped from Stage 3 (took three days). Ironically, my local AutoZone had them in stock for the same price. My install was a bit more than Rinn69 at just over $1000 for install. I had to take it back again to get the SPC kit installed for free.

If interested, I have a brand new Ford Performance Lowering Kit in a box ready to be sold and shipped. I don't think I want to deal with returning it to Ford. Without getting into details (posted previously), Ford Parts online sucks and my backordered parts suddenly appeared a week after I ordered from Steeda.

Sorry I missed this a few weeks ago, it's been a while since I've logged in. I haven't gotten around to posting the lowering kit so it's just sitting in my garage completely unopened.

Interested?

That's awesome. Wasn't sure if your post ended early.

Do you have any photos or tips? I still haven't tried it yet.
