Looking for LT tire feedback

So my truck was finally delivered to my dealership and I really need to hammer out my wheel and tire set-up.

I ordered a '22 XLT sport 302a with the standard 18" wheels. I did not order the optional 20" Sport wheels as I did NOT like the tires and feel that the gray is a bit dark for a black truck...

Well, I wound up finding a take-off set of the optional 20" Sport wheels locally for a steal and decided to pick them up, now I need to decide on tires.

I'd like to go a tad wider than a 275 series tire, but not all the way to a 305 series tire as it seems a tad wide on the stock width wheels. My issue is that once you go larger than stock tire size, you are moved in to an LT tire which is about 15lb. heavier than stock and seems to be a bit stiffer with it's 10 ply sidewalls.

This will be my first brand new vehicle. I've been modding cars for over 20 years now, and hovering close to 40 years old I've realized that theres a very fine line where you can 'ruin' a car and should have left it mostly stock. I do NOT want to ruin the ride of my new truck, nor do I want to level it, if anything I may do a reverse-level. I'm looking for a mild A/T tire as 90% of my driving will be highway and local streets, but I can't bring myself to put an H/T tire on a truck. I will not be hauling anything substantial at all, just family trips and DIY projects, so an LT tire is not required.

So, does anyone have any real world HONEST feedback on going to an LT tire, maybe a 285/60/20 or 295/60/20? And I mean honest feedback, not just 'I like the way my mud terrains look and they make it ride like a truck' feedback.

Ill be going 285/65/R20 on my 2022 King Ranch when it lands on the factory rims.

From everything ive read with the 3.5 Eco and 3.55 gearing should ride only marginally worse than stock.

That said i do plan to do a level, but there are guys on here running that same tire without.

You would be fine with a 285/60R20.

Then just do some research on road noise and weight,

There is no clear answer.

The tire war argument is endless.

I'm with you and I'm looking at the Yokohama Geolander G015 A/T, 285/60/20. They say they do better on pavement but still have a more aggressive look. There is a thread about this tire out there.

I have seen that thread, I like the look, but that size is an LT tire.

The Geolander does look pretty decent though.

Did the 285/65/20’s work with your stock KR wheels?

I added them to my 2023 with a Bilstein level and ICON UCA’s and they are rubbing the control arms really badly. I am swapping the factory UCA’s back later this week and am hoping the 285/65’s work on the stock wheels.

So I’m not a big fan of going wider, it doesn’t really buy you anything other than looks.

I’m running a 275/65/20 which is a 34” tire without a level. I went with the pirelli scorpion AT because it keeps me in an SL tire.

Ride is every bit as good as factory if not slightly improved from the added sidewall.
