No deposit just took a photocopy of my license.
DON'T CANCEL!!!

Just order another one from the other dealer and take which ever one comes first with the options you want.

THEN CANCEL!

The dealer you cancel on will be OVERJOYED that you released a new F150 into his inventory.

Dealers CAN'T order inventory and they're DESPARATE for more.

Normally you'd be screwing the dealer but times have changed.

Interesting.....

From what I’ve read, the smaller dealers will also have a harder time getting your order picked up in the Ford system due to limited allocations. Larger dealers have more order slots available…could be wrong, but my impression was that your order will get “built“ more quickly with a higher-volume dealer than a smaller one. Son o it’s not only the cost side—it may also impact timing.
I was wondering about this exact thing ^^^ with ability to get the order picked up and possibly faster turnaround time overall......
Have gotten prices from Chapman (and the other 2 offering discounted pricing on these forums) and most likely ordering with them Monday. They are the closest of the 3 at about 4 hours from me. Going to give my local dealer a shot to come close first. They are literally 2 minutes from my house and super convenient for service..... And I've purchased 6 new vehicles in the past 10 years from them. But based on the prices I have gotten from them in the past, I doubt they will match it. Looking at over a $7000 savings from MSRP which is way worth an 8 hour round-trip drive......

So..... what if the NON-discounted truck shows up first ?? I'd still wait for the discounted one personally.....

Also, I had heard that Ford is frowning on dealers having cancelled orders since there have been dealers placing "fake" customer orders in order to have trucks on their lots........ part of the reason why now dealers are having to get signed orders and copy of licenses, etc......
Somewhere I had read (or heard) something about a 1 strike and you're out situation....... don't quote me on it... rumors are what rumors are... But cancelling the order once it arrives may actually hurt the dealer more than help......

I thought so also, my dealer is a small, independent family owned one, they aren’t a high volume highway dealer or part of some conglomerate. I got a confirmation email that the order was accepted about an hour after it was placed, was told by dealer order was “locked” a week later and have a build date that is under 2months after order placement.

I do know allocations apply mainly to specialty vehicles (ie dealers only allocated so many Raptors, Lightnings or GT500’s a year based on their sales). But regular line trucks/cars they can order get picked up pretty easily I think. I could be wrong thou with way things are nowadays

I was told by my dealer I would get a email asking to Confirm my identity within a week because dealers were ordering vehicles as customers when they were meant for sales bank. Never got that email, only one confirming the order

Yea that’s similar to my situation. My family always uses this dealer and I use them for service and bought several transit vans from them. Im going to give them a chance to match or come close but I just know being a smaller family owned dealership they just won’t be able too.

Im not a fan of the high volume/pressure dealers myself, i try to avoid them if I can. Show them the offer you got, explain how you’ve bought before, serviced there, etc… it may work or maybe you can get them to meet halfway? I know mine wouldn honor X-plan pricing til I showed them a email exchange with a big chain that would and they agreed to honor it (I threw some extra options on I was gonna do aftermarket to make it sweeten the deal)

I contacted 4 local dealers. Texted the owner of the 1st (our daughters played basketball together, we attended the same church, etc.) and got an "in a meeting" reply. I had a couple situations with him over the past years where he ghosted a charity case he said he would contact, and another involving a salvaged vehicle - those said to me - not worth contacting back. I was also hesitant as reviews on the service department had lent me a few concerns. I know you can't trust all reviews, and dealers need to bring in profit, etc. I just had a "not warm" feeling here - nothing more.

Dealer 2 (the closest) simply laughed when I mentioned invoice pricing. The call then ended.

Dealer 3 (about 40 miles away) offered ~3k off MSRP for ordering. They could not do better, but were friendly. This is an option for service for me.

Dealer 4 (about 20 miles away) offered invoice pricing for ordering and are also an option for service. They are a large volume Ford truck dealer in the area, but I don't believe them to be a high pressure one. Depending on how my long distance purchase goes, I may order from them in the future.

My savings over sticker if my local dealers (1 and 2) had no doc fee would have been 8.6k. Saving compared to Dealer 3 is 5.4k. Savings compared to Dealer 4 (invoice) is 3.5k. Hence my decision to go further away for an adventure.

A story on a high pressure dealer we used to have in the area: Bill Heard Chevrolet. We had a young lady as an assistant basketball coach who we met randomly at Monell's for lunch (family style - never knew who you'd sit with). She was late for practice and the coach asked me to call her. She was at the dealership, "thinking about maybe buying a truck", and the sales rep couldn't find her car keys, as they were going to buy her car, "The trade in manager had them.", "They were driving it to check it.", etc.. This had been going on for quite some time with her trying to leave and they wouldn't let her. I told to her stand up and find the sales rep/manager and say she was late for BB practice and needed her keys now to leave and to call me back if there was an issue.

About 10-15 minutes later she said they still couldn't find her keys, but "wouldn't she rather drive out in a new truck?, what payment would work for her?" , etc. At that time I got to tell her what everyone who ever got stuck like this in a stealership would love to say, and quite loudly.

"Pull out your badge, identify yourself as a Metro Police Officer and say 'If my keys are not in my hands in 5 minutes, I will have cruisers here in 6, and you can explain to them what you have done with my car.' " I may have failed to mention that she had just graduated from the police academy. She got her keys back and left. She commented to me that "It was amazing. I got them back right away and was able to leave."

Bill Heard is no longer around. You can still probably search and find stories about them and their dealings. The local news media would not investigate them despite all the issues. The dealership bought so much advertising, well, I'm sure everyone has one or two disgruntled customers, right? - so why investigate somebody we like? Once they started to go under & stopped buying ads, the stories started to come up in local media. I'm so glad that doesn't happen at all in National politics and media, right? :cautious:
