This sucks!!!!!

21’ Powerboost that I love but the damn left turn on my trailer faults out 80% of the time and the horrible “trailer disconnected” alert comes up, ALL THE TIME!

Plugged my boat trailer into my Bronco = Perfect

Plugged into my friends 24’ Duramax = Perfect

Dealer says the 7pin passes and all leads are HOT!

Hard to pull my boat safely with this non stop issue.

Please help

I have had similar problems as have many others.

My experience at dealer was similar. Data I posted indicates low voltage output, evidence of short to ground related error despite the use of their simulator. I suspect the voltage threshold on the simulator light is too low. I'm getting 6.5V when pedal is depressed and 8.5V when the BC slide is activated.

I used Forscan Lite to get the error log. DTC log was cleared when dealer evaluated last week. Code encountered occurred after that. Also had not towed my big trailer for over 2000 miles, so I'm certain the code is occurring without trailer connection.
There's more to come of course.

At least now the fault seems to have declared itself based on measurements. I think the dealer's service team is suffering from a lack of imagination when it comes to diagnosing faults.

I'm sorry you're having to put up with it too.

Can also be due to LED lights not pulling enough juice. Wasn't there a related software update at some point? This was triggering false alarms on FordPass.

Have you come up with a solution? I did put some Dielectric grease on the plug and seems to be working, albeit temporarily. This is dumb. Great trucks but knocked down a peg if you can’t pull your trailer safely.

I will take mine in for service again tomorrow.
Given I've done most of their work for them, it should be an exercise in locating the faulty component(s) locations and replacing. I'm sure that will go smoothly ;)
My truck was built DEC 2021, received TRM module updates at first oil change Q1 2022.
I will post updates on the thread I started.

This is totally dumb, I bought the truck specifically for trailering and now that I don't have a commute, the % of miles trailering has gone up and the problem is magnified.

I am frustrated but I realized I have to be calm when it comes to scattershot diagnostic skills of others (dealer) that wastes time. Decided I had to measure things myself and make the best argument I can for logical component replacements.

Hi there, Paul. These trailer concerns doesn’t sound like something we want you to experience with your F-150 truck. Could you please send us a PM with your VIN and the name and location of your Ford dealer? To send a private message, just click on our username and select "Start Conversation". I'd be happy to look into how I can assist you on my end.

Howdy,
I'm following up with the resolution.
The dealer replaced the connector, P/N HU5Z-14489-B "SLEEVE-WIRIN" [truncated]
Service advisor thanked me for diagnosing the fault on their behalf.

I am concluding that the lowly service tech doing the job relies heavily on TSB, SSM and WSM for actions to be taken. Recorded notes suggest restricted thinking. I would imagine that rather than ask the question "what would have to be true for this reported event to occur?" the tech simply followed the path, so to speak and since no DTC, no problem existed and couldn't be diagnosed without the trailer attached...
Not to mention the half-dozen other cars he's being asked to fix simultaneously...
My opinion is the tech should have measured resistance and voltage as I did on the first visit. I would imagine the high-resistance connection with the POWER OFF would have suggested a fault if they were thinking out-of-the-box.

A day that I could have been fishing instead. Will be connecting my trailer soon to confirm function.
