Leather Take Off replacement

Have a 21 XLT and the only thing i am missing is some Leather. I found some Lariat Take offs for a reasonable price for the complete set and I am curious if anyone has taken on the job to swap them out. How difficult is it? Anything to look out for when performing the swap? Really dont want to screw up any of the airbags in the seats.

I haven’t done the swap but do keep in mind that the Lariat has a folding armrest in the rear where the XLT does not so you will need to figure out what to do with that as well.

Have you compared the cost of the Lariat takeoffs to Katzkins?

I installed Katzkins myself and it was a straight forward job. They use all the factory clips and there are no hog rings to worry about with this generation. The seat fabric is just help in place with plastic clips molded into the seat foam. Disconnect the battery before you start removing the seats so that there’s no risk from the airbags.

This gentleman did a whole video series on a gen13 interior which is assembled in a very similar way.



Edit: here were my results on a dove grey w/ black backs doing it myself. The photos were taken before I steamed the wrinkles out, they literally went from the box onto the seat. I was to excited to get them on, but I’m hindsight I would steam them first, then install them, and steam again if necessary.

just got my leather lariat take offs. the ones in the back are in. .thanks for the idea...they look great. ill post pictures
