Not the same thing. Your Sync version and software version for the truck itself differ. You can turn cameras on because your truck was built with the latest software already. I am not sure if when your truck was built, it was built with 3.x.x software from factory, but cameras in motion is with 2.8.3 that all 2022's come with already.
Thank you for your reply... I am still confused... How do I check what revision of 3.x.x i am on?
When I check for software updates, it says the truck is up to date...

My truck was built on June 20th...

I appreciate any help with figuring out how to check the software versions...

There is no way to check unless it comes in OTA. From my understanding, not even the dealership can check it. They can check to see if any of the modules on your truck need an update, but not what version of the software the truck has.

Because of the problems I've had getting my updates done via OTA or dealerships, I follow these update threads on several forums very closely. That I know of, no one has gotten 3.x.x pushed out to them yet. There a few updates that started getting sent out recently (which prompted this thread) which seem to possibly be updates to prepare trucks to start getting 3.x.x pushed out to them.

Which doesn't make sense to me, because I received these updates and I'm stuck on old software.

Thank you again for the clarification! So, I am guessing there is no way for me to know what version I am on... whether it is 2.x.x or 3.x.x ?

Until I receive the next OTA?

Correct. Even then, the OTA's that are being pushed out do not have a software revision number. They seem to be more like patches to existing software than actual new software. If you do get one of these, there is still no way of knowing. However, you can safely assume you are on AT LEAST 2.8.3 if you have a 2022.

This is what my screen says.. Rev 321..

Is that the same as 3.2.1?

I got my truck in the last week of July and I have had this from the beginning...
I can turn on the cameras while driving...

Sync versions are not the same between 21s and 22s. You cannot compare them directly.

@STM You are on the Sync version all the 22s are on. 21s are playing catch-up to the 22s.

Ford F-150 Latest new software update 1662672824247

FYI you can see this on ford.com under Sync Updates on your Vehicle Dashboard.

You can have other module updates that are functional but don't affect the Sync features. Like my truck has a PCM update, but that doesn't have anything to do with Sync.

Beg Ask someone in the FDRS thread to check. It requires an FDRS subscription, which is $50 for two days, and goes up from there...

Can't tell if you're making a joke or serious.

The 21 version that are numerically higher are not getting any features the 22s didn't already ship with. I have not yet seen an update that wasn't something my truck had back in March.

Jesse confirmed this as well. I think he also noted that the 22 Job 2 trucks have the same new APIM part number as the Lightning, so the software is possibly a little different.

So, trucks that shipped later got the most up to date software that was available to install. That version has to have a number, so you give it one high enough that you should get to it by the time the 21s are brought up to date. I don't think it's a mistake that it's 22-012

Then, trucks that shipped earlier had to be brought up to the current level using the OTA process that wasn't as smooth as expected. Each OTA build would have to be tested to make sure it was bug free in operation and on install, so when you make a change and increase the version number, it can climb very quick. As can happen when you are optimistic with your numbering scheme, suddenly the updates are higher than the version you shipped on a different truck earlier in the year: "There's no way we'll go through 400 build numbers to get the 21s up to the 22s...oh wait..."

Not trying to be a wise guy. Simply referring to year vs sync number. The way I read your post made it sound like the 21s needed to catch up to 22s. If he or me or whomever looked at it, they would look at it the same way. This fellow was prob saying, what sync should he be on.
(My sync ver is in my sig.)

I started after Ford effed up with 1.7.1 back in Nov 21. Since the dealer replaced the module they wouldnt update any module that wasnt directly related. Since then, I’ve been updating them manually non stop. I’ve done dozens of mods. Longest stint was almost 5hrs. And still updating. First ota I got was a couple weeks ago. Yippee for me.
That and $2g+ later.
So is he confused by all this? Its a long road as is.
I don’t pretend to know every part number nor any incremental numbers/updates that fly past our eyes.
Ford does us no favors because they send us a ‘hey, you got a blah blah number.’ The sync number means nothing to them but thats all we can see if you are lucky enough to get that info in your FP app. Don't think most of us really care as long as our trucks keep working fine.
PS: I have complete faith in Jesse! He def knows his stuff.

These past few days, I've been checking everyone's truck and not my own. As it turns out, I got the two updates yesterday and the day before. So, these updates are supposedly preparation for future updates or patches for 2.8.2 & 2.8.3, yet the last update that got sent to me was for 2.7.3 and that failed. I don't understand how or even why I got them if I'm on older software. lol

Also, based on the time stamp, it seems they happened as soon as I got home and parked and my truck picked up the wifi connection.

Edit: I just noticed I have my auto updates set for midnight, and both of these came in and installed well before the scheduled time.

Picture1.png
That's exactly how both updates installed on my truck. They appear to both have been sent as priority "high" which i now think means they will install as long as the truck will take them.
In both cases they installed just after I got home from work 5:30 est. and the truck connected to wifi. I have auto updates turned OFF and my scheduled install time would have been 1:00 am.
I think these updates were forced or pushed by Ford with no option to decline or delay. Thankfully every thing went ok!
I think the trailer module update for recall was done the same way, without choice.
