Recently swapped oem trailer mirrors on my ‘21 lariat high package. Mirrors have power fold, power extend, 360 cam and bliss. Having a lariat high it had power extend plug pre wired but after install it still
Doesn’t work. I’ve read 1000 threads on issues with the swap but some say it worked as soon as plugged in and some didn’t. My question is can a dealer recalibrate fix this issue or is it a FORscan thing? Also read the courtesy lights and full blinker are usually a FORscan thing as well but wondering if dealers have figured out how to calibrate this as well? Also after install I started getting a rear brake assist not working alert when shifted to reverse, is this common? Lastly I found a un used little grey plug under driver mirror interior cover plugged into a dummy spot, can’t find any info on what this is? Sorry for the lengthy post and any info is much appreciated !

You can do the required work with forscan for less than the dealer will do it. The 360 cam calibration needs to be done as well. The forscan route is ~$50. The dealer will likely bill at least 30 minutes, possibly an hour.

A workaround to the dealer costs potential if you don't want to touch forscan (you should) is to call them and ask how much to completely install the tow mirrors. It should be a $50 out the door install, and by that method you can lock them in on price while getting the really simple programing / camera realignment taken care of.

For the rear brake assist message, go to the Sync menu and see if you have the brake assist turned off (it won't brake for you). You should still get cross traffic alert and a beeping noise when backing if a car is coming or you are close to something.

sorry about the install issues…i just did same thing and all I had to do was enable power extend in Forscan….watch a few YouTube videos on forescan…. It’s scary at first but as long as you save a copy of any module you modify to your lap top before you modify anything you’re good…..recalibrating the 360 camera is possible with forescan…lots of posts on that here….I did it then carried it to the dealer to see if they could improve on my calibration…..they checked it and said their calibration was as good as mine…good luck

BTW…..what is the purpose of the wire plugged into the holder on the removable panel that’s over the mirror mounting bolts…mine has it and I’ve been curious

So if I understand correctly if you have a lariat 502a without tow mirrors

you need the factory tow mirrors , the power extend switch , and forescan mods , recalibrate 360 cams, anything else ?
