Settings - vehicle settings - lighting - welcome lightingI'm trying to figure out if there's a way to turn off the Approach lighting/unlock feature where it unlocks when you get within 5' of the truck?
On mine when you get within a certain distance the lights come on and the drivers door unlocks. Not a big fan of the door unlock feature. Only want it to unlock when I touch the handle or use the key fob.Somehow missed the unlock part. The truck shouldn't unlock until you put your hand on either the front driver or passenger door handle. There is an option to have it unlock all doors when doing this, or just the one you grab.
Mine will unlock for me when I put my fingers behind the handle. Basically, do the motion of grabbing the door handle in slow motion. When your fingers go behind the back of the handle, but haven't grabbed the handle yet, the door(s) should unlock. It took me a bit to figure this one out. Also, if you have your fingers in the same place, and you push the black button on the door handle to lock, it won't. I have to make sure my fingers are fully away from the handle, then push the black button on the handle to lock the truck.Just came across this thread. But I'm wondering if there has been an update to this feature. I just took possession of my new Lariat, and it does light up when I get within about 6 ft of it...but the door/s don't unlock....just the approach lights come on.
I have a Poweboost, so this is perhaps different based on HEV/non-HEV... (OP says they have a powerboost in their signature).Somehow missed the unlock part. The truck shouldn't unlock until you put your hand on either the front driver or passenger door handle.
Are you sure you have approach lights, seems to be an option on the XLT.Oddly enough I just picked up a Powerboost XLT yesterday and I cannot get the approach lighting to kick on. I have enabled the feature on the sync settings but the graphic it shows is the key fob being triggered.
Just about positive my 21 Ecoboost that I traded for the Powerboost lit up when it detected the key fob.
Most weird
Oddly enough both trucks are 302A high packages. The only difference in the window sticker between the two is no under seat locking storage and no max tow on the PB. Most odd.Are you sure you have approach lights, seems to be an option on the XLT.

I'm curious if you experience a slight delay in the door unlocking when you position your hand around the handle. If I walk straight up to my 22 Powerboost and pull the handle, it will still be locked. I have to let my hand sit behind the handle for just half a second and then it unlocks. I was fine with it until I drove a 21 Excursion over the weekend which had the same feature but operated very quickly. There was pretty much no way I could pull the handle fast enough to catch it still locked on the Excursion. I know there is some stuff stripped off the 22's that 21's had due to the chip shortage...wondering if there was some change in proximity sensor from 21 to 22 that caused the degraded performance.Mine will unlock for me when I put my fingers behind the handle. Careful with where you keep those key fobs at night. I work in Cybersecurity and they had several talks on this at the Defcon hacking conference this year. Best practice is to store them more towards interior of the house. Buddy of mine recently got his '22 Ram 2500 stolen via this attack. Basically, if you keep the fob somewhere that someone can catch its signal from outside your house, they can relay that signal to steal your vehicle. Different car manufacturers have varying degrees of security to defend against this.So apparently my issue was caused by my wife's key fob being too close to the truck. I normally parked the ecoboost further from the house but now need to park closer in. When my wife comes home she sets her backpack down right on the other side of the wall that I am parked next to. Most likely when she got in today the lights triggered,. After that the truck didn't see the fob move and then never responded to mine when I walked past it.
Neither my Ecoboost or this Powerboost automatically unlocks the doors on approach. I have to either hit the unlock or put my hand into the door handle. Both trucks had the same relay click that @ptricky mentioned but the doors stayed locked.
So was this verified that the doors were actually unlocking?I'm trying to figure out if there's a way to turn off the Approach lighting/unlock feature where it unlocks when you get within 5' of the truck?
