Hello all,

am I the only who absolutely despises the stability control and how aggressive it is in these trucks. I can’t accelerate while making a turn stop light without it kicking in. Has anyone found a remedy for this. It’s borderline unsafe.

I get that it kicks in quick and is sensitive, but what’s unsafe about it?

I actually love it. My '96 f150 was always spinning tires and wheel-hop. This truck feels incredibly more safe and responsive.

Haven’t tried in this truck, but in my mustang there were two options, hold the traction control button for like 5 seconds instead of pushing it, this is 95% effective but under extreme conditions it will over ride itself,or remove the fuse which will completely disable.

This is unsafe because if you are trying to do controlled slides, skidding through corners on a racetrack, the computer may think you are losing control and want to go in a different direction than actually intended, it will apply ABS to try to correct what it thinks needs to happen, and will cause you to wreck.

In my case simply trying to enter roadway it is super invasive and cuts power preventing me from getting up to speed. Additionally as I learned recently when taking turn from a light, it kicked in when I accelerated to avoid someone hitting the rear of my truck. While I understand it’s intent but when you turn off advancetrac via the holding traction button down for 5 seconds it literally makes no difference. I’m not trying to drift my truck or anything but if I have a vehicle I want it to be able to get out of its own way. You should be able to at least tone it down with turning advancetrac off.

Sounds like something is wrong with your truck causing it to hesitate. Advancetrac shouldn’t be activating in normal driving conditions. Only works when there is wheel spin or the wheel in turned in a different direction than the truck is traveling. And with traction control off (single click of the button) you should be able to do anything you need to on a public road. I will occasionally hit the traction off button if I know I’m about to make a move I probably shouldn’t and need it to not cut power if the wheels spin, but that’s fairly rare.

Its not a hesitation issue the traction control light flashes the abs module starts pulsing etc.

In all my F-150s I don't think I have ever experienced that aside from slick conditions (rain/snow). The tires just spinning wouldn't move you any quicker either though.

I resolved the rain/snow issue by moving up to a Lariat when I got my 2019 and now 2021. I have turned and gunned it before and never had the truck hesitate or cut back, it just grabs and goes. But my 2017 was an XLT and only in wet conditions did I ever see the traction control light or have any power cut. So I can't say I agree it is overly aggressive, Ford is generally known for having one of the less intrusive stability control systems across their lineup.

Rear drive vehicles though when turning and accelerating offload a good amount of weight from the inside wheel of the turn, and if you tell it to put down power, the combination of weight lift and how light these beds are will spin the tire easily. Guarantee if you put some sandbags over each side over the rear axle, you could repeat the same conditions and have less of an issue. Also if you were in 4WD.

If it is indeed traction control kicking in due to wheel spin, maybe try to be a little more gentle on the right pedal. I have yet to have it kick in when speeding up. I have heard a quick chirp once or twice, but that is it.

I have the same problem. Even if you turn off traction control AND Advance Trac, it still interferes. My 2018 did not do that and let me light up the rear tires if i wanted too. The light on the 21 still flashes on the dash if everything is turned off. Its annoying, turning it off should mean its OFF... stupid.
