I use the interior work surface all the time to eat or do paperwork. The tailgate work serface seamed useless to me. I custom ordered my truck with out it. The base tailgate still has the bottle opener and the clamp locations. I’m in construction and I would have no use for a ruler on my tailgate. If I’m doing something on my tailgate I would always use a tape measure. I feel the same way with the step, I would never take the time to use it.

This might be a silly question and apologies if it is, but I couldn't find the answer anywhere else and I'm getting ready to place my order this week. Does the interior worksurface take any padding away from the console or storage from underneath it? I'm assuming it's just as soft (though not super soft to start) for your arm, but just making sure it's not rock hard plastic when you select

For the cost of the interior work surface, it was worth it to me. It takes away the challenging fun of sliding your seat back and balancing a laptop or tablet on your lap. I use it more often than I thought I would and have no regrets at all.

We keep a deck of cards in the upper glove box and pulled those out the other day for a quick game of gin rummy. Even though I lost big time…for the smiles and the levity of an otherwise boring wait in the truck…it was worth the cost just to enjoy that moment right there.

Adamperry72 - I haven’t lost any padding in the armrest or storage area That i can tell.

I won’t use the tailgate tape measure unless it’s for a quick measurement, but it’s still nice that it’s there. I’ve mostly used the pockets to prop up a phone, coral some lose bolts, and even organize coffee supplies while we plugged in our Kuerig and had some hot beverages. The features are nice to have even if you never plan to use them…(because you probably will).

If you have ever parked a truck on a sloped driveway through the years and used the tailgate as a work surface, you’ll love the new F-150 tailgate.

So far, I regret getting the interior work surface because of the storage I ASSUME I lost in my RCSB.
But NOT "deeply". It will definitely be used.

However... I LOVE the tailgate work surface!

A little old thread but sorta related: my truck does not have the folding work surface, but I was disappointed there was no other storage in the arm rest in its place. I imagine it wouldn’t be much, but still!

Overall I like the design of the tailgate work service and provision for using clamp. I would use it more except the plastic used is like a thin HDPE and scratched and gouges very easily. When sliding heavy metal items into the bed I put down a protective sheet of MDF.
