Has anyone swapped a higher end long trim piece that fits over the fob to a "key ignition" xl/xlt? I swapped one over and got it snapped in place.
I had to do some trimming on the back side. When I try turn my key and start my truck I get the "No key detected" error. Why is it looking for a key fob from only a trim piece? Anyone else deal with this or done this swap? TIA

I added the rubber washer around the key hole, but no luck.

did you check to make sure the transmitter ring around the lock cylinder didn't get pushed back when you installed the new trim piece?

I didn't know there was one there, since it works with the other trim piece. I don't think that would be it bc it does it when the rubber gasket isn't there to (which would be what pushes anything back),, BUT I will consider that and look at it again next time I try, thanks.

Is it possible I need to grind the trim panel more?
Or, could it have nothing to do with the panel, and just a "transmitter ting" around the key slot is the only part in play here?
