I will have to take a look at the battery I think it’s fairly new I bought this truck used with about 50k miles on it.You can diagnosis to one of two things.
1. if you don't have lights even after starting the truck it's a wire issue.
2. If your interior lights work after you start the truck then it's a module issue.
I had the later. Many many people suggested putting a H7 battery in. It has higher output than the underpowered H6 ford puts in.
If the surface voltage. "Resting" of the battery falls below a certain level the battery control shuts off certain modules. One of wich controls the interior lighting. When the truck is started the voltage increases and things start to work.
Low battery voltage will keep you from remote start.
Dealer put in a new H7 battery. Truck was happy for a few days then back to the same old issues.
I installed a Bluetooth battery monitor. It charts the charge level ever few min. I could see my battery level dropping at a high rate starting when I shut off the truck.
The decline in charge would stop when the trucks battery saver mode kicked in and forced a compleat sleep mode. That meant no interior lights or remote start. Other wonky things were happening. Like windows lost their calibration. Radio lost program.
In the end it turned out that a module would not go to sleep like it should causing current drain while parked. Battery in 2 hours went from 13.3v to 11.8v. The battery saver program would kick in to save the charge and put the truck to sleep. Turning off all the things that needed some light current to operated like transmission learned values and occupant sension and remote key for receiver.
I disconnected the main AND rear under seat battery and waited over night. The next morning when I reconnected them the offending module was reset. It no longer hung in the on position.
Now my truck can sit for days and not lose even .5 volts.
I put a old H6 battery in and the truck works good. Every one thinks by changing the battery to a higher rating it fixes things. I think the time disconnected while changing the battery resets the modual.
If this happens again I will monitor the can buss and see what modual is still not sleeping when it should. I know it's one that is related to the audio amplifier because I see the amps power on and off for hours while the truck sleeps and the amp pulls alot of current.
There are a lot of threads here that discuss the battery problems.
I was pissed right off for a solid week till I found that button. Drove me nuts. There’s a switch on the overhead console area that you need to push for all auxiliary lights to work when the ignition switches off and the doors open.
