Sorry but Ford is not making a boat load of money off these nuts they just don't cost that much. The nuts in question are nylon lock nuts. Which are one time use. I guess you could use some locktite and reapply.. The nylon lock nuts also explain the higher torque required to tighten them. The nylon ring is red in these nuts. Spending less then $11 to keep things in spec is no big deal in my book.

If you don't use new nuts, then the torque values will be off since the nuts have already been used the nylon ring is not new.

The 36mm Axle Nut is a little pricey. I was only able to find a 4 pack for whatever reason for like $43
