Installing f150leds side vent lights. Where to tap into?

I have a 2025 F150 XLT in Canada. I’m trying to install the side vent lights from f150leds dot com.

I noticed the 2024+ wiring PDF for the side vent lighting kit, and it says to modify from the video and connect to the DRL instead of the side marker.

As far as I know, the DRL will turn off at nighttime when the headlights turn on, therefor the side vent light would turn off.

So is this really the proper way to install this? Or is there a better way?





Is there a reason the PDF instructions for the 2024+ state to not use this method, and instead use the DRLs?

I used one of their taps to connect to the driver's side, side marker light. I bought their easy plug and play wiring harness, but it was messed up at the plug. So I still used it, but tapped the same line, so I didn't mess with the OEM wiring.

It is lit up while I drive down the road also.

Also run those LED wires through the upper most and forward most hole, or you will see the wire.

And that’s on a 2024+? Just wondering why they specifically say to run it to the DRL on that model year. If I do that then it will not be on at night

Connect to the marker lights using the tap they provide. Their tail lights are absolutely trash, but the vent lights have been great so far. Also, you can always contact them directly to get direction. Very friendly and knowledgeable people and they response very quickly.

I have the leds from factory. I don’t know for sure they shut off at night I only assume they do because the name Daylight.
also googling it it seems like they turn off in the night when your headlights are on?

You may just have to do the old fashioned.... pull it out at night in the driveway and see what happens.

But once they are in they look pretty cool. Kinda like a side marker for a European car.

I didn’t have a pin 3, DRL. So the manual says to install to pin 1, which is the low beams.
so they do not turn on with proximity. And only with the low beams.
would I not be better off installing them to the parking lights in pin 9??

You better call them up and talk to them. The difference is that your in Canada and your laws run your lights different from ours.

But in mind yes, wire off that wire instead. You can't put anymore on that circuit though.

What do you mean I can’t run more off what circuit?
They have been trying to be helpful. But to be honest they haven’t done it before either and don’t know. They said I could try the parking light wire. But unsure.

If you put any more wires tapped on that circuit it could overload it and cause the canbus wiring system to kind of go nuts on your headlight. The computer can see too much voltage being drawn away and throws a flag up in the computer system.

But its like you have them hooked up. I'm guessing they only work when the headlights are on, correct?

Day Time Running Lights (DRL) are on all the time. day and night. I have a 2022 Lariat with the LED lights.

FWIW, I ended up going rouge and looking through the wiring diagrams myself. Ended up hooking it to another connector in the front for the parking lights.
Now they come on with proximity, unlock, and anytime the vehicle is running. Perfect!

Not sure on the connector name, but it’s a two wire connector next to the main headlight one. It connects to the side marker light.
