Installed eBay/Chinese 21-23 Raptor Style LED Taillights

I was getting tired how sad the XLT taillights look. I also hated how dim the XLT LED reverse light were. I replaced them with 2021-2023 Raptor Style LED Taillights. They were $250 from eBay and made in China.

1. You can leave them Raptor style where the top and middle lights function together as brake and turn signal, both illuminated red. Or you can change them where the top illuminates orange for turn signal and middle illuminates red for brake and functions independently like Tremors. I tried both modes and liked the Raptor one better.

2. I transferred the BLIS modules from the factory XLT taillights and BLIS still works perfectly.

3. They came with wiring harnesses for both BLISS and non BLISS trucks. They also came with resistors that you can just plug into the harness. However I chose to disable turn signal outage detection using Forscan so I didn’t need the resistors.

4. Running lights, turn signal, and brake lights are super bright and deep red. Pictures I took below don’t show it correctly. Reverse lights on these are also much brighter than LED reverse lights in the XLT taillights.

5. The truck has already been in a bad rainstorm they don’t show any leaks or condensation inside yet. Hopefully it stays that way.

I bought a set for like $260, but the brake and turn signal are more pink than red, the DLR bar has good color but has a couple brighter and dimmer splotches, and they only have the Tremor pattern for the brake, while I prefer the Raptor pattern, like your photo shows.

Search for “MZOrange Raptor Tail Lights”. They are sold under multiple seller IDs at different prices but I‘m pretty sure they all come from the same seller and factory.

I have had 2 sets of these on 2 different trucks. My second set had a tiny bit of moisture so I bought some desiccant packs on amazon and put a few in each light and they have been perfect ever since. Between the two I have had them almost 2 years and they still look brand new.

I tried a set from Amazon, and when I plugged in the wire for the Amber turn signal option, the middle brake light would illuminate at the same time as the turn signal. Does that happen to you as well?

Unplugging the connector inside the tail light assembly should only change the color from red to amber. It should not change the function.

The XLT trim is programmed by default where the top and middle lights function as turn signal and brake lights together. If you want the turn signal to be independent from the brake light like Lariats and Tremors, you have to change it in Forscan.

I don’t know if your Amazon lights are wired the same way as the MZOrange lights from EBay. The MZOrange lights are wired like the OEM LED tail lights so you can program them with Forscan to function, depending on your preference, like Raptor or Tremor tail lights.

Well shit…lol. I thought it was just because they were cheap Chinese ones so I returned them. Looks like I’ll give it another go! I was already looking for legit ones off of FB marketplace in hopes that would be the fix.

Do you know the Forscan changes I’d have to make?

OEM ones definitely have better quality but these Chinese ones seem to work fine and I can’t bring myself to pay $1200 for new OEM ones.

I’ve been thru several more rain storms and cold mornings and still no condensation inside.

Could be your lights are not wired the same way as factory.

When I used the 2nd and 3rd lines, they made the turn signal and brake lights work independently.

Do you have the EXACT link/seller for the lights you purchased? I’m going to give this another shot before I pull the trigger on OEM ones.

Also, can you confirm that AMBER is an option for the turn signal, and functions separately from the red brake light?

What did your factory lights look like? Some trucks do not have the wiring for a separate turn signal. Mine did not and I had to run the wires up to the BCM and tap into the front signal wires.

Yea I don't think the XLT has the trigger wire (my 24 xlt didn't) for the turn signal since it uses the brake as the turn signal. You will likely have to run wires to the BCM if you want it to work.
