Inconsistent Phone Charging from Ford USB Port?

Took a few hour trip over the weekend and my wife went to charge her phone with the usb port under the HVAC controls. Would charge for a few minutes then turn off and back on again, Waking her phone back up. After an hour of this she plugged an adaptor into the 110v and that charged just fine.

Can you not charge phones from the factory USB port?

I’ve seen the behavior you described before and it’s typically a failing cord, but it sounds like it may have been the same cable?

Yes, Same cable. Actually a brand new cable. First time being used.

Maybe related, I've noticed the QI charger does the same on off on off thing too. Just thought that factory charger was shit.

There may be something going on with your USB ports or maybe even the electrical connection in that area.

have you tried charging with any of the other built in USB?
