Finally got a video of the sound I had mentioned previously.

Ignore any popping sounds in the background (construction). Trying to locate the source of this high pitched whine. Could it be the alternator or the driveshaft?

Spoke to the dealer 2 weeks ago (before I had the video). And they mentioned a lot of people complained of a similar noise. It's most noticeable in drive thrus or in garages where the sound reverberates. According to them, the TSB says no action is needed.

This can't be right, does anyone have a solution?

That is the sound, yep.
Is there any official word on the source? If all F150s did this then it would be somewhat understandable. If only some of them are doing it, makes me wonder what's causing it.

Also, If I hold it a steady 25mph I head a sound like something is rubbing or knocking as it spins. Almost sounds like a faint flat tire. It drives me nuts hearing it when driving around slower parts of town.

What are the specs for your truck, which engine etc? Do you have the ProPower option?

I know it was some work getting the video on here, but would it be possible to post one with several seconds at idle?

It’s hard for me to tell for certain if it’s the same sound mine makes. Even though I don’t know entirely what it is, I’ve confirmed numerous new F-150s and other Ford models (Explorers) also make the same sound my truck is making, and I’m confident it’s normal.

We have nearly the same exact truck powertrain wise per your notes; “ 3.5 Ecoboost, Supercrew, FX4, 3.55 with locking diff, and no ProPower”.

I’ll try to get a video tomorrow morning in a quieter spot while idling. I’ll see if I can get the 25mph sound too.

To me, it sounds like typical alternator whine. Some of them can be quite loud. That's why I asked if you had ProPower, some of the trucks with the ProPower option have two alternators.

My ‘21 does it and so did my ‘18. I always thought turbo noise. Never been an issue for me.

I have this whine to and it is definitely not normal. I spoke to the dealer twice and they said ford is aware and is working on a fix. But it is causing no damage ??

Just got my f150 XLT v8 and I noticed this same noise in your video when I drove it home and parked in the driveway. I’m by no means a car/truck snob but it can’t be “normal”. Sounds horrible to me. Had to drop truck back off at dealership to install a Tonneau and mentioned the whine and if they could look at. Probably get the “nothing is wrong” answer
