Stay safe out there everyone! I suspect some ProPower usage throughout FL/GA/SC, though this one seems to mostly be a soaker.

My power has stayed on, and luckily no flooding or real damage in my immediate area either. I still don't have my transfer switch installed, but I have extension cords at the ready in case.

I saw only 290k without ppwer a few minutes ago
That's fl and they listed iirc 5 or 6 counties
That's freaking excellent
Here a few weeks ago
A basic heavy rain with some wind wiped out millions for almost 2 weeks
And Houston is a hurricane prone town
Every one take a slow down and stay home if your in the areas

Good luck to you and everyone down there if FL. Extension cords will work for you until you get your transfer switch. The TS is wonderful but it will be nice just having the ability to use cords if you have to.

We've learned a few things about hurricanes. Also, our electrical grid isn't held together with bubblegum and coat hangers, like Texas is.. ??

Yeah, but mother nature really doesn't care what humans do to fortify. Trees and powerlines are the best of friends, at least from tree's point of view.

They stopped using Bubble gum. Because it dried out, now they use candle wax??
Seriously my coop elec provider in north east texas awesome
We do loose power from trees etc
But they are pretty quick
Only had to use the Westinghouse now 3 times, all under 2 hrs
But it's great to have hooked to run the house, like pb does

If you get a transfer switch that works with power boost, let me know what type. Also, can the digital generator system handle short spikes in current levels above 30A? An AC unit will draw a lot on start up, and it would suck to have the system trip and not allow AC to be used. Honestly I’d rather have central ac and put ice bags into the fridge.

See this thread from @Tigmd99 - https://www.f150gen14.com/forum/thr...urricane-beryl-power-backup-experience.25966/

The transfer switch + an AC softstart just might work for a lot of people.

That is a great thread, I haven’t seen that one before. Thanks for the share. Realistically, on my budget I will probably end up with a window unit ?… But still it is very nice having the worlds quietest and cleanest generator in my back yard at night when everyone else sounds like they are running wood chippers.

There are cheaper, and disputed methods, to effectively do the same thing. I just played copy-cat on this one and my electrician/handyman friend gave a thumbs up. He also said I could do it cheaper.. ?‍♂

I'm good with my choice though.

The biggest high risk high reward idea I have heard involves clipping the ground prong on my NEMA L14-30 and feeding it into the dryer socket… but I haven’t yet been able to convince myself it’s worth the risk.

Low risk high reward with breaker interlock backfeed.
