I installed a front and rear dashcam on my 2024 F150. Presently the rear dashcam is installed on the rear interior window,
and the issue is, with ARE truck cap installed on the truck the rear dashcam visibility is not the best. I want to install the
rear dashcam on rear window of the truck cap.

I just need to determine the best or easiest way to run the rear dashcam cable from the interior to exterior of the truck to the truck cap?
I can't be the first person who wants to install the rear dashcam in a truck cap.

Thanks for any guidance you can provide.

Have run the rear dash cam wiring down the drivers side A pillar on to the foot-well wire trough on a 14 gen F150. The driver side has rubber plugs in the floor that can be pierced and re sealed after a wire has been installed. Then its run along frame rail to the area of the driver rear tail light to get up and out to the rear window or simply mount the camera in the license plate area.

Prior to doing this make sure you have enough cabling to do it.

PIA getting the little plugs out to remove the A pillar handle bolts with a 10MM socket. Fishing the cable down the A pillar to the foot well with video ends on it is no picnic either.

Thanks for the information, I will locate the plug on the driver side. No issue in running the cable, already did it on the passenger side behind the air bags.

I had the same situation with an ARE topper and wanted to try all other options before drilling into the top. Ultimately, I tried the set up in the pictures and have been thrilled with the results. The cable goes through the rubber gromet access point to into the bed and I have it plugged into an extension for the camera. This way if I ever want to remove the topper (highly unlikely) I can just unplug the extension.

I have yet to attach the camera cable to the interior of the topper but so far this works fine, if not a little ugly. I just tuck it out of the way and it is fine so far.

I decided to just mount the rear camera to "velcro" type fasteners, the heavy duty type for EZ Pass that you buy on Amazon or get for free with the pass. This way I can have the camera up high and looking over everything. The velcro lets me remove the camera for the car wash.

The seal on the back window of the ARE is great and I just run the cable between the glass and seal. I was hoping this would be acceptable without drilling. It actually worked better than I thought it would. That ARE window seal is nice.

Shortly after installing this set up we had about a 12 hour torrential downpour from one the hurricane remnants that came though and I went out to see how much water came through the seal with the camera cable going through it. It really was just a few drops and I can live with that for the convenience of this set up, and no drilling. Good luck.
