I’ve sort of “trained” myself to not panic at the sight of deer on the road while driving for the exact reasons you stated. I feel like sometimes it’s better to just hit the thing then slam on the brakes or swerve into oncoming traffic. My wife and I are very lucky it happened the way it did with no injuries. All the best part is you stayed on the road and the airbags didn’t deploy. There are so many people here in Northern Indiana where we’re at, which is rural 2 lane roads. Quite a few people swerve to miss a deer and hit a tree or roll a truck in the ditch. Others have airbags deployed when they hit the deer then they can’t see what the hell is going on and they hit a tree afterwards.
Your rate sucks. You’re in this situation but sadly it does happen. The best part about all this is you didn’t get banged up and the truck can be fixed.
