How many keys?

Since you had your truck for a few weeks, I'm kinda shocked the dealership still had it sitting around. Glad you got it back though.

I appreciate everyone chiming in and letting me know I'm not crazy. Update!

The sales person had the key - his supervisor at one point gave it to him and he wasn't sure what it went to so he put it in his desk ?. So I went there and picked it up and all is good now!

The Salesman had the key... well imagine that... One would think a good dealership would have some kind of (simple) tracking method. You know, like a plastic bag with a VIN on it and all keys inside...

The dealership that I use, have a board in a locked room, with hooks for the keys. All keys are tagged with the stock number as soon as the vehicles come off the truck and signed for by the dealership.

PS when in a hotel room I toss the key fobs in the microwave at night since that is effectively a faraday box...

this is brilliant!! I am paranoid enough to do this next time I travel. sheesh, I miss the good old days of thieves just punching the lock !!

My question would be why did they take the key out of the fob at all. Really only needed for emergency use. Glad you got it sorted out.
