I purchased an extended bumper to bumper warranty which I believe lasts until 160ish-k miles. Then my dealership provides a lifetime powertrain warranty. As long as most work stays warranty work I’ll most likely have this truck a couple decades. So rough math based off my current mileage, close to 300k miles. Unless something with more utility comes out. I’m mainly interested to see how the ramcharger does. Electric powertrain performance with the convenience of gas sounds pretty good.

I have a 2023 XLT PB that I purchased 5/17/23. I love it. I have 21,500 miles on it in just under one year. I’ve had a few of the more infamous issues (SSN, Trailer Brake Fault) but none that have resulted in long stays at the dealership thanks to the info and support on this forum and a cooperative dealer.

I use it as a daily driver and for towing a utility trailer and recently a 25’ Lance travel trailer. The ProPower OnBoard has been fabulous for the RV.

Because of the amount of miles I plan to drive over the next several years I have been interested in an extended warranty. I have two questions I hope can be discussed in this thread:
1. WHEN is the best time for me to purchase an extended warranty? Before the 12 month ownership date or wait until closer to the 36,000 mile mark?
2. WHO best to purchase from? Grainger, Lombard or dealer?

I’m looking forward to information and opinions…

The only thing I think is incorrect is that the engine is never used for thrust and is only used to supply power to the batteries for the electric motors. The entire drive assembly for the ICE is eliminated.
Yes and no. The ICE drives a 3 phase motor that turns the energy into DC, the traction inverters turn the DC back to AC 3 phase to turn the motors. This system could run entirely without the battery like a locomotive. When the system is needed the energy is powering the vehicle at that time. We know the electrical generator side of things is more than enough power to charge the batt and pull a max load box trailer. We don't know which is the most efficient use of the platform and if they even care / let the owner decide.

Would you rather have an idling ICE or one that runs hard enough for an hour to get another hour off.

I really like my truck. I don't love getting 19 mpg but for such capability, it seems reasonable.

My latest plan is to have it as my only vehicle until it gets well over 100K miles and then add an EV DD car and keep the truck for work duty.

That Ram EV thing looks ideal, but I think I'd rather save the $40K from upgrading my truck and add a lightly used Hyundai Ioniq N to the garage instead.

My ‘21 has 90k miles, and a 100k ESP. Dealer options are limited in my area; closest is 1 hour away and the truck spends an average of 4 weeks/year in the shop. This dealer works on at most another 2 Powerboosts, so their diagnostics/repair time are extended due to limited expertise/staffing with PB competence.

With that said, I’ll likely extend the ESP to 125k and wait for the RamCharger. Another factor that has me holding onto the F150 is compatibility with Comma 3; it’s literally been a game-changer for me.
