2021 F-150 Limited 4x4
Hi there. I bought a used 2021 F-150 Limited 4x4 yesterday, from a Ford dealer. It’s my first F-150, and the first proper FoMoCo product I’ve had in a long time (I’ve had a Lincoln MKS in the past, and have had some past and current Jaguars and Land Rovers, which have some FoMoCo engineering).

It is an early truck with a build date of 12/15/20, but per my research, it definitely has the BlueCruise hardware (extra sensors on the A-pillars and center stack, CoPilot 2.0 Active Prep on the window sticker).

I got FordPass all set up and connected to the car; however, I cannot get BlueCruise to show up in the Connected Services app. I also can’t seem to get the car to do any updates, even connected to Wi-Fi. It’s currently on

Additional details:

- SYNC version: 4.0.23291
- BlueCruise Map Version: MUST-14H394-AAF
- VIN: 1FTFW1E83MFA49516

Can anyone assist? I can’t believe Ford is this sloppy with SYNC 4 and 4A updates. If Apple and Google were this bad, heads would roll.

You have a configuration issue in the IPMA> that is why it is not showing up.

the fastest way would be to get Forscan. Least expensive. $12 for license $40 for a cable.

THe other way is to go to the dealer. This one will cause you to want to blow the truck up.

THird would be to invest in FDRS. Then you can update and fix it yourself. This is the most expensive option but if you plan on keeping the truck it is a good thing to have. It will allow you to update modules when ever updates are available.

Okay. I actually ordered a cable this morning; it should be here tonight. And I have a spare Windows machine kicking around, so that works, too. So it looks like FORScan is the way we’ll go.

Is there a procedure you can link to on what to do at that point?

You seem like the Grand Poobah of all things programming on these cars, haha.

I know a few things. When you get the cable let me know. We will get it fixed. Ill have to remote in to make the corrections. SO install teamviewer.

Keep in mind The Blue Cruise doesnt have to show in your connected services for BC to work.

Your Truck is fairly up to date minus the IPMA. But it is at the version that enabled BC>

You’re too kind; thank you so much. I’ll let you know as soon as the cable gets here.

Thanks so much for helping me out earlier. I do now see “Lane Centering With Hands-Free” under the cruise control options, but haven’t yet gotten BlueCruise to prompt me. And the activation prompts are on. So I guess I just have to wait for the car to sync with Ford’s servers?

THis will prevent BC from working. I cleared it when I was in there and it came back.

Jesse helped me! Once he gets you up and running, toss him a few bucks for his time via Paypal.

Other than the DTC showing. Are you making sure you are on a blue cruise mapped road? If you’re not on a mapped road it won’t engage. Just wanted to clarify.

I was. I checked the BlueCruise routes on Ford.com. In fact, it did a couple of weird things after our last exchange.

1. “BlueCruise is available” briefly popped up. It told me to press a button, but when I did, nothing happened

2. When I pulled over and restarted the car, I got a message that my BlueCruise maps aren’t up to date. So maybe that’s part of the issue, too? I wish the car would outright tell you which routes are BlueCruise-enabled.
