I have a '22 Lariat Sport 4x4 with trailering pkg and 360 camera. My Jeep tows my two trailers just fine (one is a single axle utility trailer with no trailer brakes and the other is a dual axle boat trailer that does have trailer brakes). My F150, however, has trouble with both. On both I get a notice that the trailer has become disconnected...on the boat trailer, I also get warnings about some lights not working or that the light test function isn't working when I try it. The truck is still under factory warranty but I'm wondering how will the dealer resolve these issues. Will they need me to bring in one or both trailers so they can have them available for test drives or for them to figure out what is going on...or can they simulate a trailer being connected? I get such an assortment of error messages...how should I best bring these to their attention so they can see what I see? Take pictures of each message? Or will they be able to scan for these messages during their diagnostics.

Hoping someone that might have had similar issues can provide advice on how to best deal with this or for what to expect from the dealer.

Go through the trailers wiring and check all connections. My dad had similar issues on his truck and finally got around to changing his taillights on the trailer and found bad connections in behind the lights. No more issues since repairing those connections when changing the lights. All the lights would still work but always got the annoying messages.

I will, but since all lights and brakes all work well with the Jeep, I'm not expecting to find these are at issue.

My trailer had an issue. A new 7 way plug resolved that.

Our trucks are very sensitive to weak or loss of ground. I mean very sensitive
It will drive you nuts
And if you have an break away break battery ..if they are dead it will trip up the 7 pin connection

My brother in laws 2020 F-150 had this same issue while towing his snowmobile trailer. Turns out the plug would become slightly disconnected giving the message. A bungee cord solved that{ 500 miles from home}. I'm not sure if he ever fixed it. I have never had that problem on my 2021 while towing any trailer , with or without brakes.

I almost guarantee that it is the trailer plug. I never had an issue with my old truck , my 2022 had an issue with my trailer, changed the plug and a couple of the ends on the wiring that did not look great and have not had a problem since.

I think I will buy a new plug for the trailer, but in that both trailers are having connection issues, not sure if that will solve, but if nothing else, I'll know they have good connectors.

I'll be going through the wiring and cutting back to new wire to ensure connections are good. Thanks.

I'm not sure if this has a battery or not, but will check it out. I may take the boat trailer to a trailer repair shop and let them look at the trailer.

I had some trailer disconnect issues on my 21 PB. I got some Dielectric grease and spread the pins out on the trucks connector and I haven't had any trailer disconnect warning lately.

There were some software updates to the trailer brake controller related to this and other issues. Also, it is possible that some trailer LED lights do not draw enough current to be detected. But before those, I'd check wiring and clean the contacts on both sides of the 7 pin connector.

There is a known issue with the truck sockets. Have them change it under warranty. They did mine and the problem disappeared.

Second the grease. I had similar trailer disconnect issues, grease elevated most of them. I still get the occasional pop-up message.
