?Hardwiring Air Compressor Behind Rear Seat?
Some of you may have seen my post asking about how to hardwire up an air compressor behind the rear seat. I've completed the project and wanted to share all the necessary items:

Some of you may have seen my post asking about how to hardwire up an air compressor behind the rear seat. I've completed the project and wanted to share all the necessary items:
- Iron Man 4x4 Air Champ Pro compressor (peak 45A, same as smittybilt I think)
- ~15ft 4AWG Red Power Cable (I used windynation)
- ~5ft 4AWG Black Cable (I used Windynation, you only really need about 2.5ft max)
- Windynation ANL Fuse Holder w/ 60 amp fuse
- Anderson Power Products SB-50 w/ 6AWG contact (it'll be a tight fit, but it should work)
- Anderson Power Products SB-50 w/ 10/12 AWG Contact
- Ratcheting crimping tool (I used IWISS Ratcheting Crimping Tool Set 8 PCS on Amazon)
- 4 bolts and spacers to prop up air compressor (this allows you to use the bolt locations of the OEM jack)
Steps before wiring:
- Remove OEM jack and bracket
- Remove compressor from it's OEM bracket and cut off the outer edge. Instead of this, you could use a sheet of steel and have it cut to shape, and drill 4 holes for the compressor and 3 for the OEM jack mounting holes
- I trimmed the carpet material around the compressor location for more ventilation space
Wiring:
- DISCONNECT YOUR BATTERY, only connect your wires once you're 100% finished.
- 6-8in 4AWG power cable from positive battery terminal to ANL fuse holder (I mounted mine on the fuse holder cover).
- From there a second 4 AWG power cable will go below, where theres a small rubber grommet that you can cut a slit into (mine was unused) to go through the firewall.
- Route the cable under the door sills, and all the way to the back of the cab.
- Here you can ground your 4AWG black cable using one of the grounds behind the seat carpeting material.
- Once you have both cables, crimp on the SB-50 contacts and insert them into the plug
- Snip the alligator clips of the air compressor and leave about 1ft or so of wire.
- Strip the wire and use the 10/12 AWG contacts for the second SB-50 connector
- Connect everything back up, connect the battery and you should be good to go!
