The only true all season tire that's not 3PMSF rated which does well in poor weather is the Michelin Defender LTX.

I opt to swap both my 5.0 and our Expediton wheel/tire combo to dedicated snows each year.

If I were to run only one wheel all year long and kept stock suspension, I would go with an all weather such as Cooper ATS4 or Falken Wildpeak.

I would not say that the Hankooks are bad in the snow, but they are not good either. I have been impressed with the truck's 4A. The combination of the tires not being great in the snow, but 4A doing a great job, I'll wait to replace the tires after they wear out.

slightly off topic, when you guys say 4A, is that equivalent to the Snow drive mode? so when turn the knob to snow mode, it automatically goes to 4A?

I always just throw in 4a as soon as there is any accumulation of snow on the ground and leave it in normal mode. I find snow mode really kills the throttle response and drives more like eco mode. To answer your question, I believe snow mode puts it in 4H though and it more intended for getting out of deep snow which is why it kills the throttle reponse.

thanks, i honestly did not know that we can put the truck in different 4x4 setting while in Normal mode. i thought each setting is associate with a driving mode.

I run these on all of my vehicles... The OEM factory Ford tires suck. These are awesome for snow, ice, etc. https://www.discounttire.com/buy-tires/hankook-dynapro-at2-xtreme

PS: The Xtreme's only have a beefer sidewall to protect it from damage. The tread is the same on just the AT2. A vastly different tread than the OEM Ford Hankook!

I was concerned about the Hankooks since we live up a hill that is not plowed or salted. Got 8in of snow here in Nashville and was 0 this morning. Tires have performed surprisingly good. 4A in slippery mode worked great.

I bought a set of 20” sport rims that were brand new take offs with the Hankooks on them to run for this winter. Our winter has been mild more so than usual but I find they aren’t horrible but not great. I would think as they wear down they would get worse for sure. I’ll be buying proper winter tires later this year for sure for next winter.

Same experience on my 21 Lariat FX4 in "Slippery Mode". I'm in the Nashville area too, and I'm wondering, what are my best replacement tire options? I assumed that Ford put those specific tires on the PB's because of weight and/or other fuel mileage factors. You know with the PB being a hybrid and all...I'm more interested in maintaining my average 23mpg and having a good "all around" tire than I am in the aesthetic of the tire. 98% of my driving is my commute into Nashville each day, and the occasional road trip. Snow and ice account for less than the other 2%. Anybody have thoughts on a replacement?
