One thing I was wondering is how does granger handle priority. Like for the 2023 model year (if you order didnt roll over from 2022) do all orders get the same priority. Or do they over the course of the year take orders from earlier in the model year cycle and bump the priority down/better?

The dealer does not have any control over the priority code that Ford assigns to the build. The dealer priority codes are between 10 and 99.

Ford assigns 1-9 but from what I have read they typically always use a 3. I believe a 1 is assigned when something happens to the vehicle before pickup. Read the following URL to get a better understanding.

I am refering to the deler codes which I think are typically 10-19 or 99(dont schedule). Like I originally started I think at 19 at grainer. I was wondering of come Jan/Feb/March will orders placed in October and March have the same priority within the Granger queue or does grainger just set everyone at 19 and let ford make whatever they can make

OH, I see what your asking now.

@Granger Ford would need to answer that one directly. Unless someone else has already asked/and received the answers you seek.

Granger sends them all in at the time of order. You should receive Ford notification of "order received" within a day or two. They do not sit on them or hold them because this months allotment is used up so they have to submit it in next months allotment. Other dealers will do this to keep the sale and then ask for forgiveness later.

Really once it is in Fords hands it is up to Fords scheduling. This has many variables, and you would need to be "inside" Ford to know the full process.

With that said that order "priority" number is basically useless if not completely useless.

I know they dont sit on the order. But I think they have two choices 1)make all the orders for the 2023 year at the same relative prioity. 2)Set earlier orders to a lower priority as they age.

Agree ford scheduling rules them all but when a dealer 50 orders that ford is ready to make(ford has all the parts abd is willing to scheulde those order) but deler only has allocation for 30 units for the month that is when the priority comes in to play. It is a knudge to ford as to what trucks the dealer would prefer to be made first with all other things being equal

We manage the priority codes. A new order for Retail is priority 19. One that is our oldest order will be moved to position 10. We try to work a first in first out order system, but commodities are the biggest slow down here.

Since I am the OP, I want to make sure that my comments are not misconstrued. The quote above says it all. Granger has been very upfront about pricing and the deal they offer is excellent. I will have a 15 hour return drive after picking up my truck, but to save $7K or more from the local Yahoos, that I was dealing with, is worth the effort (some were asking $10K over MSRP where I live and anyone who pays that is a fool, from my perspective).

Granger, if you are reading this, the intent of my post is that so other potential customers know what to expect, where Granger (you) can improve, if you care to do so. I am in Sales, so I understand what it is like, but I keep my customers informed through out the order process, which is what I was expecting. Maybe my expectations were a little high.

With that said, the process is still very painless and I am looking forward to picking up my truck in another week or two.
We appreciate the feedback. Admittedly we are not perfect and we're looking to revamp our process to streamline things constantly. The ebb and flow of deliveries makes it hard when we get 50-60 vehicles dropped off that are sold one week and 5-10 the next. But we are trying to make the process smoother.

This is a perfect example of @Granger Ford being responsive. They are not only responding to our emails with lighting speed. they are also answering questions and monitoring this board.

Speaks volumes to me, compared to haggling over prices in my past dealings with Car dealers.

Just my 2 cents.

HA! You sir have the correct outlook. Plan on 36 months and when it comes in after 7 or 8 you will be pleasantly surprised at how fast the process was. :)

Realistically, you should be closer to 12 weeks, depending on what you ordered. 12 weeks from order to Granger to delivery, but I tried to ensure no extras like spray in bed liner and I also went with loaded XLT instead of Lariat just to try and simplify what Ford had to build. I will miss the leather seats and B&O unleashed, heated steering wheel, etc. but I needed a truck sooner rather than later, so I decided to compromise on what I “wanted” versus what would be good enough.

good luck on your build…

also, hopefully, you make the Ford 3.9% financing, which expired today.

I had a great experience with Granger. Chip answered all my questions during the ordering process the first week of MY2023 ordering. The price stayed the same, no haggling and I saved $6800 from ordering locally where nothing but MSRP was available. Ford kept me apprised of the status and other than the shortage of heated steering wheels and advanced security, the truck was delivered as ordered.

I had purchased a refundable airline ticket dated several weeks beyond the scheduled arrival and we were able to finish the paperwork portion by that date. Ford did charge 1% more for my business purchase and, in hind sight, I might have worked harder to arrange financing elsewhere but this wasn't really a Granger problem.

On the day of scheduled delivery, the most stressful part was plowing a foot of new snow at 4:30am and adding almost an hour commute to DIA through the new snow. Holiday TSA happened, but I made my gate with 5 minutes to spare before boarding. From then on it was smooth sailing. Chip picked me up 5 minutes after baggage claim, and I got to meet 2 very nice couples who were being picked up for their trucks. We all discussed the ease of ordering from Granger, the courtesy given and the huge monetary savings.

45 minutes after arrival at the dealership, I was on my way to wander back to Colorado., enjoying the new ride. I left the return trip a little open-ended to avoid pushing the truck hard and to allow for any complications but it all went uneventfully.

Would I order from Granger again? Definitely, and for those of other persuasions (Chrysler, Ram, Jeep), they sell those too.
