If there are Ford problems with your order, they do offer your deposit back. That is there to keep people from just ordering on a whim and if it takes too long to come in (which it will) then just canceling. Thier business model is volume through orders even though they are in the middle of Iowa. They don't sell based on the foot traffic in front of their store. Only go there if you know what you want, know the wait, and are willing to do so. Agree to this and they will offer you the best price going. Fair enough to me.
And if you cancel the order they’re still going to receive the truck that they can sell at a higher price.

That’s true but they only get so much allocation and if that gets filled up by cancelled orders then that hurts their business model and their serious buyers who are trying to get their orders in.

Yes, actually “we” are.

Because after the FIFTH rescheduled build date, MONTHS after I placed my order I called Ford to find out WHY I was seeing orders “here” placed AFTER mine, with more options (chips) than mine.. getting built shipped and delivered.

The “customer service” rep already had all my information and after looking up my order, agreed that that it was unusual that my build had been rescheduled so many times but (of course) could do nothing but offer his deepest “sincere” apologies.

And then tried to give me the “chip shortage” BS which REALLY pissed me off but I was prepared and started giving him VIN numbers from some of the above mentioned trucks.

I might as well have been pissing in the wind.

EVERY new vehicle I have purchased in my life came from the same Ford Dealership because THEY are amazing.

I’ve read VERY GOOD things here about Granger as well and if I had a crappy Dealer and was considering buying another Ford, Granger would be my 1st call.

But having had 30+ years of dealing with Ford Motor Company I can say with confident expertise that FoMoCo has become the “Comcast” of retail customer service.

I’ll NEVER buy another Ford again.
They definitely dropped the ball hardcore on this one. I empathize. However, after being such a Ford loyalist, who will you buy from now? That may be the next conundrum...

And regarding financing, Ford has 3.9%, so no bank is going to touch that given the inflation repeated issues we are all experiencing.
Not necessarily true. According to my salesperson from my dealership Ford was offering 3.9% or I could get a 500$ rebate with a interest rate of 4 something I don't remember exactly but the dealership called a local credit union and they matched the 3.9 and gave me the 500$ rebate!

but, the dealership called, you did not find that offer before you went to the dealer, right? I thought it was $500 and 3.9%. I will check more carefully today.

I agreed. I cancelled my order with Granger after 1 year wait, I hope they can make more money when they sell my ordered truck, anyway they refunded my deposit so I'm happy.

Indeed it was.

It's time to replace my wife's car and she had her heart set on the new Escape Plug in Hybrid.
But after what she saw with my truck she agreed that giving Ford Motor Company another penny of our money was out of the question.

So we rented a Tesla and she loves it!

It looks like we'll be placing an order this month

I am reserving judgement on Granger as I think I'll be overly harsh if I commented now when, in the end, I think I am going to be extremely happy, despite a few hiccups.

Overall I was pleased with my experience. Sure, there was a couple of hiccups but they deal with a lot of volume and I'll give them that everyone has a bad day every now and then.

I will say that I have bought several vehicles in my life and Granger has been the only dealership that has been up front about everything price wise and what to expect.

There wasn't any games that other dealers play by having a salesman run back and forth to management to "get" you the best deal.
What they said is what it was.
When I bought a year ago was when other dealerships laughed at me when I asked about under sticker price. I have never paid actual sticker price on a new vehicle and I didn't for this one.

This was the first time that I have ever ordered a truck over the phone and sent a $1000 so I had some apprehension but now I'm glad I did. I never even test drove one elsewhere because I wanted a single cab and they were non existent on local lots. Even the supercabs and supercrews were unavailable then.

Would I do it again? probably depending on if ford keeps jacking the price up.

Granger if you are reading this I want a gratuity! LOL

@parkerdog makes some great points about awesome Granger attributes. The upfront, no BS pricing is unmatched.
One of the dealers I used to buy at is known for playing games with keys. They will take your trade for a drive then lo and behold you have to play the game of where are my keys so you don't walk if you don't like their deal.

Also never seems to be the same salesman when you have a complaint about something. I don't know how many times I've heard "We're sorry about what he told you but he no longer works here."

That's more reasons why I didn't have a problem driving 4 hours to get to Granger.

So far (knock on wood, stand on one leg and spit down wind) my truck has been perfect no complaints but I guess that's on ford.

Agreed. The main draw for myself was also the upfront pricing. I was tired of all the dealer markups, added dealer equipment/accessories, and fake dealer fees.

For me, a 6-9 month wait, a plane ride, and a road trip is preferable to having to deal with all the nonsense.

Since I am the OP, I want to make sure that my comments are not misconstrued. The quote above says it all. Granger has been very upfront about pricing and the deal they offer is excellent. I will have a 15 hour return drive after picking up my truck, but to save $7K or more from the local Yahoos, that I was dealing with, is worth the effort (some were asking $10K over MSRP where I live and anyone who pays that is a fool, from my perspective).

Granger, if you are reading this, the intent of my post is that so other potential customers know what to expect, where Granger (you) can improve, if you care to do so. I am in Sales, so I understand what it is like, but I keep my customers informed through out the order process, which is what I was expecting. Maybe my expectations were a little high.

With that said, the process is still very painless and I am looking forward to picking up my truck in another week or two.
