Ordered a Platinum in April and just got a VIN for production and its a 2022 not a 2023. The other day 2023 orders just opened so if this gets built is it going to get here in 2022 and its going to stay a 2022 and not get bumped to a 2023? Also wont it be a year old in say Nov.2022, as 2023's VIN start around Oct.? So did anyone get a special rebate on 2021's that arrived in late 21 or early 22? Im ok taking a 22 if they give a rebate for it being a leftover OR cancelling it if i can and ordering a 2023 if its a better choice....opinions?

Ford doesn't think of it that way. You won't get a rebate just because it was built toward the end of the MY schedule. The 2023 isn't significantly different. In a few years the miles will matter more than the model year.

When did you think it was going to be built when you ordered?

Early this year with all of the shortages, etc. history of 2021 , I was informed via Ford Co. they were not making anymore of these 2022 and starting 2023 in June. Since then, they have deleted multiple options and getting them out these premium models to buyers. Even if its made, history shows delivery delays of multiple months...so it doesnt hit the lot until end of year. So again, why buy a year old vehicle as it LOSES value once the newer year is made.

So don't buy it, someone else will. It's not a "leftover".

It's an endless chase, the 2023 will cost significantly more and you may not get it until this time next year.

2023 are not supposed to be in customers hands until oct at earliest
so if you have a 22 being built, its a 22 and has 22 stuff minus 23 changes and of course the stuff they dropped due to shortages. like nav because of roof top antennae shortages.
from what i read, 23 is small changes , and price increases,
i was at my selling dealer thursday having tire pressure thing fixed. he had an OFF the truck 2022 xlt listed at 63k on the sticker
i paid 63 for my 2022 KR crew cab in april , so prices are up a good bit
granted i used x plan to get it down to 63, then pco to go lower. but bottom line was 63 as a selling price.
this xlt was bare bones as well

Since the shortage issue happened last year Im asking what others did with this similar situation. Example some 21's were made but not shipped until 2022 and 1 guy i talked to got a ford rebate for his 21 being a leftover as it arrived in Jan. '22. I know prices increase each year but other factors I mentioned could be a better deal hence why Im asking for opinions and facts to those who had similar circumstances with their orders.

I also ordered a Platinum in April. I would be happy to just get a scheduled date. I keep my vehicles a long time so I could care less about the year. My current truck is an 09 Lariat with 241k. After that many miles one model year doesn’t make any difference. If you trade trucks ever couple years it “might” make a difference, but the mileage will be more important.
