GEAR SHIFT MODULE replacement 2024 5.0

So about a month ago I got a service wrench and alert on ford pass saying powertrain malfunction. Light went away once truck was parked a few hours. It has came on maybe 7 times in last month, going away each time after it’s turned off. Ford scanned it and said the Gear Controle Module is bad and needs to be replaced but part is “ridiculously back ordered”. They said I could pick my truck up and it is safe to drive, they will call me when part comes in. Is it really safe to drive the truck? I don’t want this to lead to actual issues with the transmission. This is a 2024 lariat 5.0 that I bought in July, has 3,600 miles on it. Thank you!!

Have the same problem on a brand new 2024 XLT 5.0 with 7,000 miles on it. They told me I was good to drive it and the part is indefinitely back ordered. Great job Ford. Winning hearts and minds.

I've had this same issue earlier this year and parts were still in stock. Dealer replaced the gear shift module under warranty and that fixed it. I observed the same warning lights you did. You can continue to drive it until parts are in stock, you still have full power and operation, but the yellow wrench icon is annoying. I drove with the error light on for about 6 months, it slowly kept getting more prevalent. If you wiggle the shifter while driving I was able to get the light to go away most of the time, but eventually it just stayed on. It's annoying.

Wherever Ford sourced their parts from have poor quality control, IMO. The new gearshift module is tighter and works good for me.

Purchased Brand new 2024 XLT 2.7L in September 2024.....Gear shift module needs to replaced....also had problems with the electronics in the dashboard during the winter with cold weather starts....not impressed with my 1st Ford purchase
