Pictured is the fuse Tap I used under the hood of my '22 Powerboost. I installed this tap with the fuses toward the rear of the truck. Is this correct, or should the fuses face towards the front of the truck?

Either way sends power to my light. One way is correct with the circuits being fuse protected. The other way is incorrect because neither circuit will be fuse protected.

This is an important step these YouTube influencers never cover. They just say pop the fuse tap in and Bob's your Uncle. The direction is important.

Take the bottom fuse out...if light is still powered..it is in the wrong way.

Hmmm 🤔, I'm not sure it works that way. I think the tap creates two separate paths for the juice. If one fuse blows, the juice still flows through the other circuit.

without mounting the fuse tap where the original fuse was located, in other words on the bench as it came out of the packet, insert a fuse into either position of the tap. Check continuity between the fuse and the blue crimp end. If it is open circuit, that is the position where the original fuse should go. If the fuse has continuity to the blue crimp end, that is the position of your new added fuse.

When you say "direction", front or back, it does not matter which way the tap is installed nor which way the fuses are installed in the tap; it's just wires that can blow 🙂

@Kanuck , Dummy me. I understand what you're saying now. If the tap is in backwards, the lower fuse will be required to supply power to the top fuse. You're absolutely correct. If the tap is in correctly the top fuse gets power even without the bottom fuse.

Bummer. My fuse tap is in backwards. This doesn't matter to the original circuit, but the added circuit isn't fuse protected. Turning the tap 180° isn't possible. I'll just have to add an inline fuse.

Fuse taps are great only if they are orientated the way you need them to be. The ones I see for sale are all the same - the wire comes out on the right. I need the wire coming out on the left.

Put a multimeter on each tab in the fuse box (12V+ to tab, 12V- to ground). Only one side will be "live" (when on). If the tap is backwards, you'll get juice to the connected device (but not the OEM item on the other end) even if the fuse blows. There's only one right way to install a tap.

This true, but I'm my case the tap can not physical be reversed. There's an obstruction preventing this. I'll have to install an inline fuse.
