I ordered Max Tow and didn't select the tow mirrors. It is possible.

I have the max tow package without the tow mirror option. But now that the bed camera is active at any speed, I wonder if tow mirrors are really needed. Here is my view without tow mirrors.

You should know that his Globetrotter isn't just a Globetrotter. He is a meticulous weight/balance analyst, not exactly a surprise considering his handle :), and he has the whole Powerboost/Payload Capacity, Tow Capacity, Weight Distribution thing down to an ounce.
That's barely any exaggeration!

I unwittingly offered some Powerboost towing advice before I knew any of this and he was humbly grateful. Then I read up on his amazing efforts to modify his Globetrotter to be the perfect companion to his Powerboost.

I will never give him towing advice again. I will instead ask him for it. Lol

It's gotta be one of the nicest, most well thought out, home away from home, boondocking rigs ever put together on the 1/2 ton platform.

It’s been a couple of model versions since they changed from suppling the tow mirrors. Ford added a larger fuel tank in place. My last dealer told me they don’t order the tow mirrors as most people do not want the big ugly mirrors. These are the same people who want to buy 5.5” beds thinking they can park them in a garadge.

take a look at the K-Source 81960 add on mirrors. I had a similar brand for my 2016 and worked great. I looked into buying factory tow mirrors (ford part#: ML3Z-17696-CA @ $650-$1,200) but they do not fold electrically. These add ons should be able to stay on while camping and then I can fold them in out of the way (by a push button) when I park in town. This way I don’t have to take them on and off until I put the camper away.

What I find really interesting is that it is even an option. The cost to allow the standard mirrors to be manually extended would almost definitely be less than the cost of designing and manufacturing 2 different parts and the number of ensuing mistakes where a customer orders with and the factory accidentally doesn't install them. Heck they could even just delete the power fold operation and I am sure most people would be happier to be able to extend when towing.

Tap the brakes. I have a 6.5' bed and can park in my garadge. And I love my big ugly mirrors. With the 6.5 bed and mirrors I give off super duty vibes. :)

But then I built the garage with extended length and 8 foot tall doors so I could get boats and trucks into it! And it is a huge hassle.... inches to spare. Just stick it in when hail threatens...

Nice!

My two car garage is to small since I needed shelves and a work bench.

I put the truck in the one car garage once just to try it. I would have to climb in and out of the truck through the sunroof. So she sits out every night. Glad I have the remote start to use for the middle of winter!

2021 Max Tow here with factory non-tow mirrors +BLIS +360 cam. I ordered and swapped out the mirrors with TOW mirrors. I have a Job1 build so my module firmware has not been updated to allow for camera on at speed.

Just a quick follow up, these add-on mirrors are back ordered and expected the end of July.

retired!
My 2005 F150 (before cams) came with standard mirrors, TT mirrors weren't an available option that first year of the body style. I added the OE Ford tow mirrors when they came available in 2006, love 'em except the extend/retract and fold is manual.

I tow a small 'fiver' RV, so not much help for rear visibility when underway from the bed cam (but it sure is nice for hitching!). I'm absolutely loving my new 500A Lariat's power extend/fold TT mirrors (yes, an option separate from my Max TT package).

YMMV but for me the functionality far outweighs the looks, and the cost as a factory option is a steal. Think hard before you pass that one up when you order!
