I'm replacing my fronts with a set of JBL Stadium GTO 960c components ony XLT non B&O. No amp. These are 2.5 ohm speakers designed to run off factory head units or small amps.

I can either

Put the factory crossover/capacitor on the new tweeter and run full range to the woofer like stock

Disconnected the pillar tweeter and put the new tweeter in the A pillar trim, to install the crossover in the door

?? Not looking to tear apart the dash to splice factory wiring and put the crossover somewhere behind the radio.

Any experienced results?

When I upgrade the door speakers on mine with Kicker 6x9 3 ways (front) and 6 3/4 two way (rear) I also considered replacing the a-pillar speakers as well. Sounded so nice like that that I changed my mind after the new speakers were installed. They produce ample highs that I felt that doing anything with the pillars would just be a waste of time/money.

For your setup I would put a small passive crossover in-line on the pillars and call it a day.
