Lookign for help on which settings in the TRM should be enabled when addign a factory TBC?
My truck is a 2022 F150 XLT PB with the standard 53B Class IV hitch package.
I bought brake controller kit ML3Z-19H332-AB from OEM ford parts outlet and took it to a local Charlotte NC dealer for programmign today.
Two and a half hours later; 4 techs, and a "master tech" couldn't get the new module to program. They sent me on my way without charging for the attempted service. Said I would need to re-book a full day service appointment for enhanced diag time and I may have installed the hardware incorrectly.
I went home concerned and ordered a same day amazon OBDLink EX and forscan. Eventually I found enough help on google to figure out they missed an important step step. The Motorcraft how to giude clearly states the IPC and TRM must be edited. (instructions leave out the specific parametners to edit and say to consult internal procedures)
Ford enabled the TBC and Gain in in the IPC module but nothing in the TRM module
After disablign all and power cycling, I made the following edits in the order specified on the motorcraft instruciton sheet.
In IPC I enabled
"Trailer brake module"
"Trailer Brake control module"
"Trailer Brake Controller Gain Setting"
In TRM I enabled
"Trailer Brake Controller" **As soon as I wrote this change the module clicked and all started working** The TRM must control power to the TBC module.
Does anyone know what these values are and if they should be on when addign the TBC?
"Trailer brake assist (TBA)
"Sync Gain"
Now wondering if I should zero out everyting and let another dealer write it with FDRS or if this is good enough. Hopefully I didnt miss any needed fetures. Atleast I know the hardware and istall are good!
Thanks!
