Im not into conspiracy theories at all as the simpler explanation is usually the correct one.

With that, given how bad Ford has been at managing their suppliers since Covid (for both quality and availability), I firmly believe that they really dont have the parts to preform the recall, rather than making an excuse to save some money, and IMO that is even worse at this point in time.

Ford has a long history of endangering their customers lives with known defects. This was the case with the Ford Pinto that when rear-ended could burst into flames and burn the people inside alive. Same problem with the gas tank of the Crown Vic that is situated between the rear axle and the rear bumber. Same with the Ford Explored that was badly engineered and so Ford reduced the recommended tire pressure which resulted in hundreds of deaths when the tires overheated and would fail without warning.

Ford's recall notice for the wiper motor installed on my truck states

"On your vehicle, the windshield wiper Motor may become inoperative, or cause the wipers to operate erratically and or stop working.

Safety Risk: An inoperative wiper Motor has the potential for reduced visibility or loss of visibility in certain conditions, increasing the risk of a crash."

If I am driving along at 70 mph in the rain and the motor stops working I am driving blind until I can get off the road. And then what? I need to wait for the rain to stop and spend a night or two in motels until it is safe to drive home?

Ford's wiper motor supplier has a limited production capability and it is Ford's choice to not source the motor from additional suppliers. With their limited supply they would prefer to put them in new trucks at the factory as they can ship these to dealers to sell.

The Ford dealers are now instructed not to replace a motor until it has actually failed. Ford is once again treating its customers and their families as expendible. It also puts at risk others on the road as a driver who cannot see could fail to stop in time to avoid a deadly collision.

I received the recall notice for my truck in January of this year. I have decided to force Ford to buy back my truck as it is not safe to drive. My truck meets the criteria for doing this under my state's lemon law. I submitted my claim on June 29, 2023 and if I do not hear back from Ford by July 29 I will be engaging the services of a lemon law attorney.

I have put less than 2700 miles on my truck in the past 12 months, as I did not consider it safe to drive based on what Ford has stated with regard to the wiper motor. For me having good visibilty is of critical importance and not something to risk not having.

Bottom line is it costs Ford less to pay off a few lawsuits from wrecks caused by bad wipers than to replace all the motors. Ford is betting on the affected trucks to worn-out and have the sheet metal rusting off them in junkyards before the wiper motors fail.

Had my truck in for an oil change last week and was told they can't because they didn't have the part. Glad my wiper motor still works.

Every car in the had the fuel tank between the axle and bumper. Not sure your point on this.
