Ford pass app losing remote start?

I got a notification in the app that they are dropping features from the app. It mentioned remote start.

I use this feature a lot, can’t believe they may be removing this popular feature.

I highly doubt they'd take that away as they are touting the only ones to have a non-subscription based service like that.

The modem is what allows you to remotely access your vehicle from the app. All 21-22 F-150s have it as do most other Fords. I think it's mostly older models that don't.

I agree, but I travel with work every week sometimes gone a week at a time. Nice to be able to start up the truck remotely for a bit every now and then. Glad to see this hopefully isn't being removed.

I thought I read the same thing. Then reread again and it stated remote vehicle set up. Which I believe was something for dealers? Maybe they read it the same way I did?

I use it all the time to lock/unlock or start my truck, what doesn’t work?

Right, and it calls out what's being removed, explicitly, and what's being retained, explicitly.

No, you're not losing remote stop/start.

They are removing some crap nobody uses (e.g.,. Journesy, App Catalog, a few map features), some one-time "setup" you do when the truck is first purchased and, if your vehicle does NOT have a modem, they are removing the vehicle health reports and related stuff (since those vehicles CAN'T upload the info needed for that).

It's what they vehicle uses to upload and download data from the Ford servers. The remote start, lock/unlock, etc. from the Fordpass app uses it. OTA updates come this way. Stuff like that.

Remote start from the FordPass app, yes. Remote start with the keyfob, no - that doesn't use the modem.

And make no mistake, they have data on every keystroke you make on the app. If no one is using a feature, no use keeping it in the code and having to maintain it.

I’m wondering if part of the reason for the feature removal is vehicles with 3G modems. Most service providers are in the process of deactivating their 3G networks to “encourage” upgrades.

I got a similar email about my Pacifica, though they have a 4G upgrade for some models.
