Good morning all,

I have a chipped rear taillight near where the tailgate closes on the back end of my truck (vertical seam). I called my dealer and they stated the ESP only covers manufacturer and workmanship defects. I asked if a rock put a hole in my front headlight, would it be covered? Answer, no. Is this correct? I don't think I would've purchased the add on had I known they would only be covered if they just happened to stop working... Shame on me for not reading the contract I guess.

Let me know, thanks!

Warranties do not cover physical damage on any component. If you high center the tranny on a boulder in Moab at 5k miles, no manufacturer will replace it for free. Warranties cover mechanical/electrical failures/defects.

Comprehensive coverage on your car insurance may cover headlight damage due to rocks.

That would obviously be above and beyond what a warranty would cover. This chip could very well be a manufacturer defect as I don't recall anything ever hitting it.

Anyways, is this the correct part number to replace that tail light? LED with BLIS/BSM:

So if you have buyer's remorse, read the contract now, especially article 12 (in a genuine Ford ESP) describing your right to cancel at any time and receive a pro-rated refund of your purchase price.

Even if not a Ford ESP, there's likely similar provisions somewhere in the contract.
