Folding Shifter Delete & Rotary Knob Swap

• Remove the trim above the APIM (radio). This pulls off using trim tools
• Remove the trim below the APIM (radio). This runs from the start button to the passenger door. This pulls off using trim tools.
• Use a 7mm to remove the 4 bolts holding the HVAC controls in place. You can unplug and remove the controls if you like, or just rotate them out of the way.
• Remove the Trim on both sides of the console. These pull off using trim tools.
• Remove the trim on top of the console, this pulls off using trim tools.
• There are 4 x 10mm bolts holding the shifter in. One of them is in the bottom of the space the shifter folds into, the other 3 are visible after you remove the trim.

Other than the time to do it (which isn't much), it looks pretty simple. I was halfway there when I stalled the Course Motorsports phone mount. Ok...I'll check it out.
I don't have a replacement holder from the Etsy guy, but I thought that I could at least swap the plug over and see if it works.

It would be good to go ahead and check it. yes the Course mount is 50% of the way there.

I feel like I'll get all the CAD files finished this weekend for those who are 3D printing their own instead of waiting on Etsy.

Now...there's so many Expedition shifter part numbers (even though they all look the same), I had no idea...so I got this one. It does not have drive mode, which is what I was watching for so I didn't have a button with no functionality.

If you just want to test a shifter you can remove the drivers side center console trim and the plug is right there on the side of the shifter.

Ok...that would just take a minute or less...thanks for the tip; I would have started on the upper dash and then been unhappy when I realized I didn't need to do all that.

Yep I saw some that even had a different bolt down pattern that must have been for another model.

Will I still have to cut the tabs? I think Dusty, from Etsy, is developing his to utilize the tabs but I’m not sure.

for the free public files you have to cut the tabs.
the printer has to be able to print in ASA or better material. PLA or PETG won’t last.

Well... in the '24, the Expy shifter "works" as-in the truck operated... but there's all these warnings.
But it functioned. Any idea about how to use it and get rid of the warnings?
