I know there’s threads on the rattling tailgate on other forums but I haven’t seen a good fix yet. And I didn’t find it here so figured I’d share what I found.
My 2020 King Ranch had a terrible rattle when shutting the gate. Drove me nuts. Then my wife gets a ‘21 and her tailgate is tight and quiet. Like it ought to be.
I then get a ‘21 Platinum and it’s loud as heck. Then it hits me, I’ve had the old man steps in mine and she doesn’t have that.
so! I told you that story so I can tell you this one. See attached pics. I took the loop side of Velcro strips with self adhesive, and put them on the top of the rails. Clean the rails really well with some break clean on a rag or other suitable degreaser, then apply the Velcro strip. The gate now shuts much quieter. I may try some Velcro on the other side and see what happens. But being on the “Top” side when closing the step, it won’t ride on the Velcro and prematurely wear it off. I hope this helps others who may have this issue.
