The fake engine noise can be disabled with FORScan. I'm unclear as to what this fake noise is. I have a Powerboost. Is this the alien UFO sound when driving in EV mode or is this fake engine noise played through the interior speakers? Does disabling this have anything to do with a Powerboost?

There is a speaker under one of the front tow hooks. Due to the truck being able to move entirely from battery with no engine running, manufacturers are required by law to put a noise-maker on it. This is to ensure blind pedestrians do not step out in front of it due to not being able to hear it. It also has a "back-up" beep as well.

Take a look at this if Forscan is not in your plans.

The nice about this (remote version) is that you can turn it on and off at will very easily, and anywhere in seconds. This way you can leave the safety feature active and turn it off when it is a bother.

Backing up in the shopping centers parking lot is fine for the beep, but at a camp ground or coming home at night, you may not want to bother other people with that beep.

Yes, I know about this speaker. It produces the backup beep and alien UFO sound. But what exactly is the fake engine noise that FORScan can disable? EVs, HEVs, and PHEVs aren't the only cars with fake engine noise. ICE cars can have this too. The livinitup spreadsheet doesn't specify if this action is for the ICE truck or the hybrid truck.

I have a 22 PB. And I’ve disabled the ped sounder with forscan. Which is the alien sound you speak of. As far as any other artificial “engine noise” I’m not aware of any other noise other than the little bit of whine/humming from the electronics. At least my truck does not have any boise other than stated.

Well, if the fake engine noise and the alien UFO sound are in fact one in the same I'll give disabling it a go. Easy enough to do. I just wanted some input about the noise before I did.

The fake engine noise is what plays in the cabin via the speakers and not the outside ped alert.

Thanks. The reason I asked in the first place was because I suspected as much. I don't know if the Powerboost has this fake engine noise. If it does I can't hear it or I don't notice it. I do hear the alien UFO noise driving slowly in EV mode. I'll skip this FORScan change.

I have never heard any cabin-based fake engine noise in the PB. I'm willing to be corrected but to my knowledge the only artificial engine noise is produced outside the cabin by law.

I know that the new Hybrid Tundra does fake noise in the cabin; watched several reviewers react to it during the press tour test drives a year ago.

It’s there, you are hearing it all the time when you step on the gas, it’s very subtle, not like my 2018 eco. The PB exhaust doesn’t sound all that great, that’s why they add in the sound. I actaully left mine turned on, because it’s not that bad. But turn it off in forscan and you will hear the difference.

Based on the Forscan change to disable it, the fake engine noise is disabled by default in Powerboost trucks.

Are you sure? It seems to be enabled on mine. But I only have one good sound comparison clip that I found online.

On my Job 1 '21 is was disabled, and I know I've read of others posting the same thing. That doesn't mean Ford didn't change something for later build trucks though.

I never thought about this, but wanted to confirm. The front speaker IS responsible for BOTH the backup dump truck noise AND the UFO sound?
I assumed there was a sounder in the rear for beeper since that is the direction of travel.
I had done the Forescan disable with PACM unplug some time ago since the dump truck sound was comically ridiculous. But kept hearing a pretty loud oscillating electric worbling whine come on when put in drive though stopped, which goes away when you put it back in park. At first I wasn’t sure of it’s just the electric motor being pretty loud versus this UFO sound people talk about. Really noticed how loud it was in the drive thru today with echo of the building, and it going silent when put in park at the window.
The PACM for dump truck only, or does it also control the front speaker as well? If it controls the front UFO speaker as well then that just means my PB has a pretty darn loud transmission / electric moror.
