I think so, it could be in my head but I’ve been using a windshield visor more and it’s not as pronounced anymore, it’s definitely between the heat and gas exchanged on those materials.
agreed, wonder if contents in airbag, heat...?

I see this issue the slightest bit every few months. As a detailer, it drives me CRAZY! I lightly clean it with an APC then put 303 Aerospace on it like mentioned a couple times already and it makes it look like new

Yea it is annoying and it does seem to go away and comeback periodically.

Mine's doing it. I have ceramic film on my windshield along with ceramic tint on my front windows. I also use a sunshade. And no, I didn't notice it until this thread. Lol

Can everyone please post results after you've "refreshed" the cover?

This "fading" issue isn't the material fading. This is from the oils on your hands /arms getting stuck in and on the vinyl. To get it off you just needs to clean it really good with an all purpose cleaner or interior detailing spray. I use Meguire's Interior Detailer cleaning spray. I swear by that stuff to clean almost everything inside my truck. I recommend a light bristled brush to be able to agitate the chemical all in the crevices of the vinyl and just a microfiber to wipe it clean.

I never touch the middle part of my wheel let alone the whole thing, it’s definitely from fading or materials weren’t cured correctly when made or the sun interacting with it.

Same. I only keep my hands on the wheel.

Don't do that heat thing with plastic.
You cook the oils out of it making it more brittle.

Warranty it. New truck should still look new.
That would be tough to warranty. It still functions, my dealer would tell me to pound salt over this I think. Granted I do have an XL, so they likely aren’t too worried about keeping me happy vs a Lariat or Platinum buyer. Those are the repeat customers they need to worry about. 3 weeks into ownership I had two light bulbs burn out and Ford said it was my problem to source parts and replace on my own dime. That could have been considered a safety thing and even then it wasn’t covered under the bumper to bumper on a 3 week old truck.

On these XL’s once they turn them over to you it’s largely your problem unless something absolutely major happens.

My steering wheel has thus and it’s fairly bad. 10k miles if that.. original cover was replaced as it was damaged at delivery. Will pursue a replacement.

Bought used Lariat at price of new STX. I don't see any fading with my steering wheel but truck does have tinted windows and I'm in northern climate. I'll have to look at it more closely but then if I see it I won't be able to unsee it.
